It always makes me laugh when people say they're waiting for a ROTJ R2. Unless you specifically want him posed with the serving tray, just get the AOTC R2 that they released. you know.. because it's the same droid. Who cares what it says on the box.

Agreed. But I will say that AOTC R2 is dramatically weathered, which is not for everyone. And if you want a more neutral or lightly weathered version that leaves you a very pricey OT version in the aftermarket, or a really sparse force awakens version that has little to no accessories.

I haven’t seen anyone mention that they passed on the other HT R2s because they’re waiting on a ROTJ version but I am definitely someone who would pickup an HT ROTJ version with a serving tray.

I did, mostly because I didn't know about the OT release. Looking at it though I like the weathering on the AOTC R2 and will order off Amazon Japan next week. Since it's a great price and free international shipping.

Fair enough, but I think a ROTJ R2 will ultimately be weathered. I think it matches more with a weathered 3PO too.

I'd like to see a dagobah R2 with heavy weathering

AOTC R2 is a great figure. I’ve got the TFA version posed with my SS 3PO right now and they look just fine to me.

Has anyone polished this up with a cape cod cloth to remove some of that weathering? I used that method on Mando and worked great. Once I get my hands on this, I’d like to try it.

I have every HT R2 lol, never noticed, do they come with the tool that zaps the Ewoks? Could be a ROTJ variant only.
I know the OT Deluxe comes with it

Mine arrived today from Sideshow. Overall he looks great. He has lots of delicate little parts that can easily snap off. So be very careful, especially when changing the hands or swapping out the face plate. The weathering on mine isn't really as bad as others have described. I think he would fit in well in any OT display. I think I'm going to display him with my ANH figures.

My 3PO arrived and he's a beauty... Very impressive. There's lots of nitpicks, but the good outweighs the bad.
For me this is the most accurate sculpt of C3PO to date. While the Tamashii wins on an engineering front, i've always felt it was a little too clunky and toyish looking.

This HT version looks more like a guy in a suit, with my only real nitpick being the neck is a little too thin. Maybe this was done to help with the articulation.

There's also a lot more DIECAST than i was expecting, with the pelvis, legs, upper arms and back plate being all DIECAST. Whereas the head, front torso plate, shoulder pieces, pistons, lower arms, hands and feet are all plastic.

I'm still not the biggest fan of the speckled on weathering, but from a normal viewing distance it's forgivable, and doesn't take away from how great the figure looks on display.

My biggest gripes are the tiny batteries used for the light-up eyes and the horrid crotch grabber. A light-up base would've been nice too.
