Quick question. Gundamit is pretty much the only store that still has gametoys Tifa in stock. I hear a lot of good about them. Would it be safe to preorder from them? Or do I run the risk of the preorder not being filled?
You will be fine. I got Zack and AC Cloud/Fenrir from them. They're great and don't charge so much for a deposit. I currently have Tifa, Noctis, Aerith, and a few Naruto figs on order with them. They're as trustworthy as Kit.

I think crackdowns like this are far more likely to occur when it's direct competition for something Square themselves produces. They produce lots of statues in-house. If they ever got into 1:6 scale figures they'd be much more inclined to chase down those manufacturers (not that they couldn't still, I just bet it's a huge hassle, so they pick and choose their battles).

Even if the quality wouldn't be as good, I still wish they would. At least they'd probably be willing to make a Cid.

Whilst we're on the subject, FNC posted this in response to a query about the SE crackdown. Would suggest the studios are going to need to be more careful about which factories to use.

Isn't Static Arts 1:6?

Maybe if Square didn't overcharge for low quality figures like they've been doing there wouldn't BE a huge competition for their markets. Their PAK have been QC messes for years and the figures are about 50-100 bucks more than they should be depending on the figure. Weren't they as much or more than Gametoys lately?

Personally I wouldn't want to give them a single red cent with how greedy they've been the past decade or more.

The figures that were shown are gks, though, not recasts. Maybe they meant castoff?

They're PAKs with the joints removed, unscaled but something like 1/8 or 1/7.

Yes you're right, they are significantly overpriced. Many seem to come down in price over time. Frankly, a lot of the SE merch is way overpriced. :(
I agree on the quality, too. They aren't at the same level as the competition. I just picked up a couple of Static Arts to replace the slightly smaller "statuettes" they released--there's a notable improvement, but still not quite where it should be at this price. Maybe if it were $75-$100 less.
That said, I like both the statuettes and the Static Arts. I think the statuettes were a better value on quality to cost, honestly, and waited to get the Static Arts at reduced cost.
Looking forward to whatever new releases come along. :)

I don't understand why SquareEnix doesn't grant licenses for FF statues.
NieR gets insanely good official statues, while FF gets basically nothing. Only low quality figures or PVC.

Totally missed opportunity with FF7 Remake and other titles.

Same thing for Bioware with Mass Effect. A Hot Toys figure or Prime 1 statue of Garrus would be an instant preorder.

Resisting the urge to buy the PAK version for this exact same reason. I would get the Game Toys version w/o thinking twice, or at all.
small correction there is no PAK for FFXVI.. they are Bring Arts figs...BUT I would not be surprised if, like Nier, which started in BA, XVI could get the PAK treatment especially Clive.

back in 2019 they showed the FF7R Tifa and Aerith prototypes then by 2021 they released that mess of a Tifa figure..... BUT with the recent improvements-ish of the Tifa figs(Dress versions) maybe the re-release next month might be truer to their promo pics.

This is square we're talking about, they forcibly bundled an NFT with their Cloud release, I don't trust them not to **** up harder somehow.

the Bring Arts Cloud was actually nice as for that NFT code bundled you can just throw that away and keep the figure lol

Damn looks rough but I cant help but feel it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I know those companies are breaching IP rights and don't get me wrong I don't support the overly sexualised nudey stuff that alot of these factories do.

But I feel this also reduces creativity. I don't like one company having a monopoly over everything.

like Imagine If Gametoys got sued or other great 3rd party companies, there'll literally be nothing much for us to collect and we will all have the same collection of just overpriced low quality play arts stuff, doesnt seem very exciting to me

That PAK fiasco is so bad; thanks for reminding me how bad it really was. I had considered preordering the re-release, but, no.
