I contemplated using those connectors, but given how many individual strips i plan on making, it wasn't that cost effective.

i soldered the wires to the dc plug after looping it in. I'm not sure the size, i bought the variety pack. it should technically be ok to use 8, since a single 12v can power the entire strip. I think length of cable is more of a concern, there is a lot of literature on the web that talks about...

So it looks like I bought a power supply with a 2.5mm jack and connectors that are 2.1mm. They fit, but will it work or is it even safe.

has anyone tried going to a glass shop to make custom doors for the bestas (hopefully cheaper)

official term for them are pocket holes, the brand most known for them is Kreg. if there is tension pulling on those shelves, I'd be careful about using pocket screws in ikea particle board material. they weren't really meant for that.
