This line has been dead for almost 2 and a half years now. I wonder how bad the sales got later in 2015/2016 since there were quite a few pieces just sitting in stock for a while. But Damtoys is not a replacement. Their paint quality is even worse than what we were getting with stuff like the...
Re: Dam Toys Dino statues
Yikes, that Gigantspinosaurus is a real drop from the previous damtoys statues. It's not even just a noticeable decrease in quality, it actually looks like it's made by an entirely different company all together.
Unfortunately there are hardly any non-JP licensed dinos out there for high end collectibles. The Damtoys stuff has yet to be proven, so we'll see how that goes. RIP in peace Dinosauria.
The paint on that Rex bust looks pretty good, as does the in person image of the Quetz. Unfortunately I still will need my Quetz in hand before I consider buying the Carnotaurus. I really hope this line takes off with really great quality.
Yup, pretty much what I expect. If we ever get lucky enough to have another piece it won't be for years, and by then it might not even be great quality.
True. So far I'm lucky because I don't care about licensed stuff and the less blatant JP franchise stuff that's tacked on, the better imo. So most of the EXs are useless to me because I'm more worried about how I'm going to remove the JP logos from the bases.
Our break will come in a few months when all of these have finished going up for preorder and we sit for 2-3 years waiting for them to finally get released
I'm not sure it's image quality. In the close up you can see like 3 distinct areas that almost look as if they were painted by different painters and sculpted by different sculptors. Specifically, at the neck there's a very visible line that separates two completely different looking areas...
Really not feeling these guys, especially compared to Blue. They're so glossy, and that close up is just an invitation to see how bad of a paint job it really is. Not sure if I want to pay around $700 for something that'll require major touch-up.
