Couple pics how I have them. Not sure if I have them right or not.

Looks right. Nice, so they don't tip forward or back.

They have not fallen for me. But they probably could flip forward if say you had an Earthquake.

How about if the ankle joints loosen and they fall forward? Would the bases stop them from falling then?

Not totally sure of course there's an fix for loose joints. But to my knowledge they have not even budged since I got the stands in December. So I wouldn't worry too much.

Those sure are some nice stands but I got a little sticker shock once I saw the price. Not to say they aren't worth it because I'm sure a lot of work goes into them. I just don't have 150.00 for a set of 4. I do have a 3d printer, I may try my hand at making my own.

I feel you. But think their worth it. Buy one or two at a time. Bought two and a sixth scale stand for 124. But going to need them in the long run don't need the to worry about the turtles falling over.

I think I may try to make one of my own first. I can print a base and a part at the top to stabilize it and use a rod in the middle. Paint it all a single color. Right now they are on my gaming shelves which are really deep shelves built into the wall. I have all 4 braced in the corners.

That's pretty cool! Post them once you make them.

Will do. I found a NYC sewer cover coaster on Thingiverse. Will modify that to be the stand base. It looks like those stoney stands basically provide like a little seat for the turtles. Not sure if I should do that or something that grips the shell from the back....or both.

These Chubby Waist stands are work too and they are more durable in the long run also (and cheaper). And sure they will hold the figure. Yeah you have to repaint them if you can't find them in black. I will repaint mine and also use leather straps for them. They will look like the grip of the sword or sai.

Not my photos. They are from Ebay:

Dang that Leo must’ve taken a bad fall. He had emergency surgery and a screw put in that left leg. Too bad that person hadn’t seen the tutorial posted here about performing the surgery in a manner that hides the screw.

What is the most concerning with regards to stands, keeping them from falling forward or supporting their weight so they don't weaken the legs over time? Is the latter really an issue? I like that idea of wrapping them in leather. I have the base worked out and the rod, just brainstorming the actual part that will hold them.

Well they are heavy and if they fall there is a high chance for damage. Also the joints are usually weak and can't support the heavy weight of the figure (A good example is the 1/4 City Hunter. ) so by itself It will fall in time. With the stand you don't have to worry about that anymore. IMO the stands are highly recommended for the Neca 1/4 line. They are well worth it. If you pose the Neca figures a lot...the joints will give up in time.

I think I may design a triple finger grip. 2 around the shell and one under the groin to support and hold it from falling forward.

raph in disguise is now available from NECA's official eBay and Amazon stores. But, they charge $17 for shipping.

looks like they will be shipping to retailers next week, with the goal to have inventory on shelves by end of month. i'm waiting out for toys "r" us, which has had free shipping on other NECA TMNT figures.
