The material I used was "Roscolux" lighting gels (used to change the color of stage lights in theaters). They have a "swatch pack" sampler that has small rectangles of all their colors, filters (frosted, etc.). They work perfectly and you can pick and choose and experiment to get the exact effect you want! You can order them through the company Rosco itself (I have several addresses for them as they do business world-wide if you need them) or find them on eBay. That's where I found mine. In fact, right now they have the exact same sample swatch booklet I have up for auction...https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rosco-Rosc...378354?hash=item54410940f2:g:~QUAAOSwImRYaYtZ

Good luck!

Here's a comparison of the two recent R2 releases with the Tamashi and HT. Overall I like the Tamashi better with the die-cast and the weight. The HT feels so cheap and plastic especially without the Dome. Also there's just something about how the Tamshi sits on three legs that just looks better visually to me for R2.

I am half tempted to clean the HT dome and just put it on the the Tamashi and weather the Tamashi dome. Might crack them open to see how hard it would be to switch out the electronics for them. lol.

Excellent comparison pics, hokietwo!

Difficult choice to have to pick just one.

It was, to be honest.

Great pics. But the tamashi is still the clear winner to me

I can see why someone would pick the Tama, but it really depends what you're after.

I have both and I would say that they are both as good as each other but for different reasons.

That sounds about right. If I had the Tama Threepio I would definitely keep the Tama R2.

so far I am liking the Tama more than the HT.

I think I am pleased with the lights now. They look ok, and the random red and blue rythm is very realistic.

Now I want to properly fit the dome on to the body (I need to make the light filters smaller they don't fit ok now).
And I would like to weather this piece a bit.

Here I leave a phone picture of the Tama in my "Rebels" display.

I love the Northern Exposure discs in the background. I’m a pretty big fan of that show. :duff

Love your display parrasmaniac. Thanks for sharing. Now I need that r2d2 to flank my tama c3po. :gah: I've putted him into his box, I'm not able to look at him alone in his shelve. :slap

The Tama 3PO I have is weathered so figured R2 should be weathered the as well. Think it benefits well from some dirt. 6V4A1050-HDR.jpg

Thanks fellas! It’s funny I’m dirtying up the Tama & others are cleaning the HT. Grass is always greener.

Looks good.

I might have to do this too. I want do display the Tama 3PO and R2 with a Jazzinc Tantive diorama. But with the squeaky clean droids it would just be too much like a scene from RotS. :yuck
