Last I checked there were 4K comments under the trailer on YouTube and 1K dislikes posted. I'm sure it's even more if I check now for both.

The funny thing that people who really don't know about Sentai have no idea that the original Zyurangers that Saban based MMPR off of was not a kids show, in fact in Japan since it's insurgence of Sentai , the idea of Sentai was made to be a tv drama show for prime time viewers.

In fact Zyurangers was the complete opposite of the corny, campy childlike feeling of MMPR. One theme that Zyu stressed on was the overall abuse of little children in each episode. For those who were able to see Zyurangers know what I'm talking about.

If Saban followed the Zyu formula for MMPR, it would've never come off as a show for the target audience of children, so of course they had to make it corny and campy.

I think Bay wanted a balance between the MMPR theme concept for us fans but keep it dramatic for adults and children of this era to relate to it. Hence why this film showed a lot of teen angst and dramatic character development in just the trailer alone :lecture

That's a given though, Japanese anime since inception was always much more adult themed than what western censors would allow at the time.

Japanese cartoons had no problem showing girls panties in the 60's and 70's.

Look at what was done to Speed Racer, Gatchaman and so on and so forth when translated to US audiences.

Sure we had Bugs Bunny that also carried some adult themes but even that was soft compared to the adult drama that permeated the Japanese "cartoons".

Since they are making additional movies, I'm sure the suits will change some and color may be brightened as well.

People need to learn how to just enjoy something and take it for what it is. Fanboys need to just stop stressing over the whole no suit/strength thing.

As long as it's actually good? Why not.

... and take it for what it is.

Well the internet was made for people to *****. if you want to watch a bunch of spandex wearing cheesy 90s dialogue rangers then go back and watch the old movie. power rangers have constantly evolved for years they never looked or acted the same. And enough with the the "teenager" crap. How do you expect them to get kids to like this movie? Be like disney and cater to grown people to get them from whining like star wars? Pshh.

You've missed the point, got overemotional and wrote a childish clished post.
But it's a Power Rangers thread so everything's fine. :lol

Funny coming from the person who damn near hates every movie. Like i've only seen you like two things in my 7 yrs of being here lol

I could try to look past these terrible costumes but... this absolutely non-power-ranger-y teaser...
I can't see my self givin' it a chance on a big screen. Not yet at least.

Heck, now I'm glad they do not look as awesome as this:

I respect what you're saying, but we already got that version of the Green Ranger. Season 1 of MMPR - you can watch it anytime on Netflix.

This is a Power Rangers reboot.

I'd like to see 'upgrades' as time goes on. Heck, that would be a perfect way to usher in a new power coins, zords, etc.

Live Q&A on Facebook if anyone is interested. I thought it would be more about the movie, etc....One question was: "Who has the longest farts?"

I honestly had to turn it off. :lol

Not sayin' I'm against different approach or anything.
Just that what I've seen so far feels too different yet generic AF.
If it's a good film then fine, here's hope.

The show was generic. You were going to hate it no matter what it was.

I think once we see scenes with Zordon, Alpha, Zords, etc., it'll feel even more like a Power Rangers film.

I think this studio has a fine line to walk.

Try to please existing fans and appeal to new ones for a new generation - without alienating both.

Anyone catch the Easter egg with the sabretooth tiger design on Trini's window?

Nice touch.

The show was generic.

Generic but awesome.

The reason it continues to matter today is that it always transcended its generic nature. It was supposed to be a stupid Fox Kids show but instead became a staple of the 90s that today's adults can't wait to revisit.

Joseph Kahn & Adi Shankar's 2015 Power Rangers Fan Film was a wet dream for anyone who grew up watching the show because it was a direct follow up to MMPW. Still wish a feature length film version of that is what we were getting next year.

But I'll take what LGF is offering.

I just read that a group called "Asylum" is making a parody film called "Cyber Rangers" - basically a made-for-TV movie - like what we get on SyFy. This is the same group that does "Sharknado." :lol

Was the Syfy one the James Van Der Beek one..that trailer freaked me out for a PR parody. How in the world did they get him to commit to that :horror
