Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

Someone posted in another forum that monthly codes are no more and now we only get one use codes sent out with orders. Any truth to this?

Looks like it. The age of universal codes has fallen.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

The sticker code on my Gandalf will not work on anything. It applies to which ever item I have in my cart (for example i tried it on Civil War Widow and Winter Soldier) and then when I try to check out and pay it then tells me the code is not valid.....any suggestions?

I had to call Sideshow and have them manually apply the code.
Was only able to get mine to work on items that already were eligible for the $25 code.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

That's too bad... I certainly bought more figures directly from Sideshow because of the $20 code.

Wonder if they'll still do RP giveaways for Spook?

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

The new situation won't be a problem for me if they actually attach codes to the boxes. I rarely have more than one figure on order at a time so if I get a code with each one I can just order the next with it, and so on.

Hoping I get one with CW Cap, I'd like to order Yoda with it.

I feel the same, but gotta wonder though if codes will only be attached to SS items or HT and other company's figures as well??

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

Oh great....open up another potential "can of worms" in the great code saga!

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

I'm probably going to take the route it seems some are going, when an order comes in and has a code, order my next item. No more per orders then reordering it when a code comes out when it's eligible because obviously that isn't happening any more.
I just cancelled any of my pre orders that didn't have NRDs attached to them since I have no orders arriving before they ship or start flex pays. Who knows if any future codes will even work on them?

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

Weird, right? But After comparing the year to two years of reporting on the single codes to the new unique ones it was shown that the uniques performed well and above the single use ones. I personally was surprised myself with that outcome.
That makes no sense at all considering that the general codes would have been used not only by the person who originally recieved them but also by others. Using what you've stated, it is clear that sales due to coupon use would have been much higher if general codes would have been available in those months that only single use codes went out.

If, on the other hand, you are comparing months where both single use and general codes went out, including those single use 10% off website codes then of course the single use codes produced more sales because many people figured out how to use those codes on multiple purchases and people will always use the higher dollar saving option when presented with a choice; $20 will lose out to $25 off or 10% off codes.

Sideshow doesn't have to offer the $20 codes but if they feel the need to defend getting rid of them then they should take all relevant variables into account before making general statements, in my opinion.

For me, the $20 codes are not going to be a deal breaker for things that I may really want but dropping them has helped me to break the monthly order chain that I had gotten into. It is amazing how easy it gets to just say no to such discretionary purchases...the first no is the hardest but then it gets easy. So, thanks Sideshow. ☺

I would hope statistical analyses would be beneficial for a company making those decisions. I hope they have a statistician on staff there to help make informed, controlled decisions. You raise some really good analytical points. They should have control variables in their data analysis to account for the confounding variables.

Then again, if they are making decisions based on total gross income, they will more than likely see a plateau in sales (less sales but increased prices).

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

Or it could be as simple as some "bean counter" saying "Look...you guys are losing X dollars per month in profit by people using these general monthly codes that get shared. You really should stop these".

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

So every order is supposed to come with a code now? If one doesn't, is there an error?

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

The reason more codes may have been used with the new system, is that before there wasn't a sense of urgency to order with a code because another one would be coming next month for everyone to use. With one time use codes, we don't know when we'll get another one, so if it isn't used now, we may not get another one for a while.

I'm already trying to cut back what I order especially with prices going well past $200, so if the codes are hard to come by it will be that much easier to skip upcoming releases. If every release comes with a code it won't effect me too much, since I will just order a new figure when I receive one, but in the past I have rarely gotten codes. Hopefully Rey will come with one, because I want to order Black Panther.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

I've ordered 15+ figures from Sideshow and have never received a code.

If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't have been able to use anywhere near the amount of code I've been able to.
Out of all of my figures I've ordered, 3-4 postcards tops.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: Waiting for the September code

Got my Rey/BB-8 today and there was a code on the box and I ordered the Han/Chewbacca VII set.
