I made notes of futz tips, and we pretty much all agree Matrix' Chewie is incredible! Here are a couple of Matrix' quotes from last November.
Thanks,i used a damp cotton dud around the eyes to make them a little more visible and a dry brushing of acrylic paints to lighten the face. Black gioss for the nose and a light dry brushing of black to the forehead. My favorite look for chewie are those first scenes in the cantina and on the falcon which is what i was trying to achieve.

Yes dampen around the eyes and sides of the nose til you have the look you want. I also mixed a wee drop of hair gel with water to help flatten and give the mustache a better shape.

I've loved giving my chewy the futz treatment. I think I'm nearly there for the look I'm after, I just maybe need to add some pastel colouring. IMG_1324.jpg

Mine arrived last week, unboxed it on Sat along with Han. Have to say, despite the likeness issues this figure did put a huge smile on my face.
Re futzing, does anyone have any tips for loosening the beard to reduce the 'coconut' effect of the muzzle? Mine seems pretty well stuck down, do I just dampen the hair or could that cause problems? Thanks.

Dampen the hair. I dabbed my fingers into a glass of water repeatedly to get that muzzle damp. Then, I used the comb to work the water in deeper. It's basically like hair gel. Moisten it and work with it carefully.

OK, thanks for that, will give it a shot. It occurred to me after posting the query that popping the head off will probably make this area a bit easier to work on as well.

The easiest way to loosen up the hair is to pet your wookie.

I used a slightly moistened hand towel and started to work the hair gradually in the direction I wanted. HT slicked most of Chewie's face hair straight back towards where there would be ears instead of following the curves of his face downward.

I also found using an old soft toothbrush useful, esp. on the body and limbs.

Be patient and very light on the touch.

Thanks for tip on the toothbrush as well, good idea. The Barbie comb HT provide is a bit on the coarse side...

Yes definitely agreed on a toothbrush or small stiff makeup/art brush.

Anything that actually separates the fur is asking for trouble, you want to brush over it generally.

I had been putting off getting him for ages but, once I did, wow. Such an impressive piece with a little work.

I Agree. It's great fun looking at this thread and seeing everyones version of our favourite wookie. Back as a kid I couldn't even dream of having a chewy as good
as this. It really is a golden age to be a high end SW figure collector at the moment, although my woman would say outherwise! :cuckoo:

Here's my Chewy. Love this guy! One of my stand out figures of the HT OT collection so far.
