Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

This is another route I'm contemplating. May initially just get the original three and hold off on Winston for now to see if he can be acquired for cheap on the secondary market. I would ideally like to have all four, but if there would be an odd man out, it would be Winston for basically the same reason jasper said, sans the whining part. He didn't seem like a whiner to me and I don't think he was necessarily poorly written either, but he just didn't seem as prominent in the film as the founding three and you didn't really feel like he was fully part of the group in GB I; especially when he tried to distance himself from them after the containment system debacle. You didn't really get the sense that he was fully one of the guys until GB II, in my opinion. Even then, he still seemed to distance himself a bit whenever they really got their hands dirty, such as with digging the hole and causing the blackout. You could say he vindicated himself though after the scene where they went for a dip in the river of slime and ultimately ended up getting committed to the mental hospital after causing a scene in their long underwear. I liked the fact that he was actually participating in an investigation, rather than the other three guys doing it and then him just tagging along whenever they had a call for a bust.

Winston was a much more prominent character in the original Ghostbusters script, back when Aykroyd and Ramis thought they might get a popular comedic actor like Gregory Hines or Eddie Murphy for the role. When they realized they weren't getting a big name actor, they rewrote Winston and gave most of his good lines and scenes to Venkman. Even after rewriting the script, they cut even more of Winston's scenes for the final movie. Leaving Winston's role as it was in the original script would have evened out the importance of each Ghostbuster, but in doing that we probably would have lost a lot of what makes Venkman such an entertaining character.

I'll post this link again--it's worth a read if you're a fan: Movie Legends Revealed: How ‘Ghostbusters’ Marginalized Winston. I like to think that most of the backstory for Winston that was in the original script, though unsaid in the film, still applies rather than Winston just being some random guy off the street with zero qualifications compared to other three. The way he's introduced always felt half-ass to me.

Spectacular! I can't fault one aspect. Seriously amazing work by Blitzway.

Can't believe we're getting quality Ghostbusters, it's quite surreal.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Egons expression doesn't look Egonesque, his mouth looks like a sneer.
Rest look very good.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

These are amazing. In a perfect world I'd be able to pick up all four. At the moment I'll likely end up with Pete or Ray. General, any better pics of slimer?

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Don't know if this has been posted, if so sorry I asked someone at the booth the price and it's not final but it's either $220 or $230 per figure.

No, I didn't get close enough and people were in the way. A rep told me they're going up for preorder next month though. :rock

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Amazing pics, Zod! Next month? Oof. If they're planning on putting all 4 up at once, it'd be really cool if they could integrate some sort of installment plan into their site.

The serious faces seem based on fighting Gozer.

Interesting article, thanks for sharing that. I wasn't privy that he actually "auditioned" to be the voice of the character he already played in the film for TRG cartoon, but got turned down for it. Talk about a snub.

We're not getting it at SDCC. Apparently Blitzway had to make some tweaks, so it's looking like at a later show.
