I believe that the only place you need to look to find the ACTUAL reason for the price increase is not at product features or overseas pricing, it's the market...

The ANH was SO popular that it sold out quickly and was demanding YOOOOGE price premiums on the secondary market after the sell out. So much so that HT actually produced a second run - which is nearly unheard of. So if you're perplexed as to why the price jumped, the answer IMHO is that it's because they knew they could raise it. High demand = High price.

But yes, I like to live by the MO that something's value is however much it's worth to you as the buyer(s). Something priced too high? The way you get the prices to curtail is not buy it.

That being said, you're damn right I PO'd TFA Han.

LOL! I just PO'ed the set, so I'm certainly not taking my own advice...

That said, I found if for under $500 with $10 shipping, so I feel vindicated.

How much did the ANH set retail for? Why does this one seem like it's a lot more?

I believe it was $480.

Maybe they raised the price a bit to make their Hoth Pilot Luke's price look less like an anomaly. Who knows?

O.K so cheaper in comparison to these. I agree I think the level of detail in the Gandalf sculpt is "as good" as the Solo HT sculpt. Maybe as SW fans we're happy
to get slightly ripped off when it comes to these type of figures Do you think Asums would be able to pull this level off? I'm new to these guys so just interested on you're opinion.

Haha, with Asmus we're lucky to get production figures that don't look like bootlegs. While this current Gandalf prototype looks pretty good, let's not forget what their production Gandalf the White head sculpt that was released just last year looked like:

Asmus figures only cost about 80% of what a Hot Toys figure does, but the figures are vastly inferior with very, very few exceptions. And to be frank, let's not pretend that the LOTR license doesn't cost a fraction what Disney is charging for Star Wars.

I think this set is FAR supieror to the ANH set....especially Chewie ......he's far from perfect, but its light years better than the ANH Chewie....


And the Harrison Ford curse it clearly broken. FINALLY they got his face right.......the hair......well that another story.

I wish I could afford it right now......but I am still waiting on REY!

I am sure the set will be re-issued after it "sells out" and the ebay prices skyrocket....

Damn I would be in for the set if it wasn't due to be released so soon. I was expecting Han & Chewie to be a early 2017 release as Yoda is. With Phasma, Finn & trooper due all in the UK shortly and Rey also around Sept, its far too many items within a few months of each other and I'm playing catch up on the OT line. Just yesterday received my Leia & one payment to go on Chewie; which only leaves Obi Wan & a OT Stormtrooper to pick up now.
Probably have to miss the twin set & pick them up individually.
Luvin the Han sculpt and Chewie has a few niggles is an improvement on the ANH version.

When I first read this I thought you were crazy because I thought this was releasing Sept-Nov 2017. I went to check and yes, they are indeed due out this year, in 3 to 5 months, supposedly! Part of me thinks it's just a mistake and they really do mean 2017. But if it's not, I'll be surprised if they do manage to release by November.

I think it is a very good Han sculpt, as soon as the picture came up I thought it was a great likeness to an old Harrison Ford. I think aging faces are easier to sculpt the likeness in, no young Harrison Ford has been as accurate as this older version.

What's funny is the ANH Han prototype compares better with the TFA version. Would've liked to see what that one would've looked like after production. Instead they changed it altogether.

The original ANH prototype looked nothing like Harrison Ford. The only thing I liked about it was the slightly more determined expression.

Awesome collection and display however.

When I look at this photo of ford and the figure sculpt it's completely dead on.

Great comparison photo. I think it looks dead on in that particular image also.
