Even unpainted I think this is already a great figure.
I think they might do a black widow and a Bucky and call it a day for the line. Don't think hawkeye, falcon etc will be made. Maybe Spider-Man too.

Not The cartoony aou ver. But The 3d printer civil war ver.
Not sure which cartoony version you're talking about, but they did use the 3d face print on her AOU figure.

Yeah. The AoU version does use the 3D printing. However, I prefer the CW costume and hair more. So I won't be getting that.
Oh yeah, it looks better there. But I agree, civil war ver is better.

Yeah I did. Took me like 3-4 hours work time.
Anybody seen the legend black panther? It looks pretty good, might be a good alternative from the figuarts ver, cheaper too.

So I finally received my order for the SHF Ultron and it's............... okay?
I mean it's not outright terrible on its own merits and it's a decent representation of his concept art model but otherwise there's so many issues preventing it from truly reaching its potential. The paint doesn't have that metallic sheen that the Revoltech has (which I still find surprising for a Figuarts) and the shoulders are absolutely terrible since you can barely move them beyond swiveling the arms up and down.
If there's one thing that this figure did great it's the leg movement. Since Bandai tends to use a more free-willing joint system for their figures' lower torso, you can easily have Ultron posed in wide stances or even sitting down casually. Overall it makes posing it somehow "easier" than the Revoltech since its joint system is a lot more traditional than the Revoltech setup. But damn it those shoulders are such a pain and they absolutely detract from what should have been a solid figure. The best you can do is have him standing around with his arms at the side or raising one arm up for a forward punch or a laser-firing pose. Beyond those, don't even expect to putting him in the usual dynamic poses that Figuarts are known for because the limited shoulders greatly limit your posing options.
If there's one thing that could have saved this figure at all, it's the height. Specifically the proportions on this guy are actually more accurate than the Revoltech (aside from the neck which the Revoltech got right). Problem is, by being scaled down so much, the figure looks so skinny compared to other figures in the line and it makes Ultron look lanky by comparison. By sheer coincidence, the stylized proportions on the Revoltech actually compensates the smaller height and it provides that much needed bulk to the overall figure. Given the mediocre quality, questionable engineering, and little amount of accessories (he only has two pairs of hands), this should really only cost 3,000-4,000 yen, but that's simply not the case here.
I don't know. I don't hate the figure, heck I happy to own one and I genuinely think it's "okay". But I think that's what sucks about it. You shouldn't expect an "okay" from a Figuarts, especially one that would cost you nearly twice as much as the usual offering, being that it's an exclusive figure. Compare that to the Revoltech which could be bought normally for nearly half the price, and there's very little reason to get this guy unless you're an Ultron fan (like me) or if you simply ran out of options and somehow need a Figuarts Ultron in your Figuarts-specific collection.

CW is definitely better. Hell, it's my favorite BW look so far.
But I'm only getting the AoU version since I don't honestly see the making said CW version ever.

That's why I pre-ordered AoU Widow -- not confident they'll make another one. While I wasn't a fan of the blue lines, I think in this scale they'll make for a fun action figure that pops a little with the red hair.
Civil War Cap arrived today. He is full of win and best of all the alternative unmasked head and neck post fit on the AOU Cap. Printed faces for both my Caps - I like this line too much! Apologies for the awful phone photo.
