Re: S.H.Figuarts IronMan

^ That might be the only 6" figure so far to capture how bulky the Mk 45 actually is. I like my SHF version, but it's kind of a poor third place behind the Mk VI and 42/43 moulds for me - it's very light, thin and fragile, and not entirely screen-accurate either.

Re: S.H.Figuarts IronMan

Not quite sh figuarts but looks like we have another option for a 1:12 scale mark 46 now. Coming August.

Revoltech is crap. Last two product from them are a huge disappointment

While that Mark 45 looks a little more exaggerated, I would hardly describe them as a huge disappointment when two of their most recent products (Ultron Prime and Venom Snake) were unanimously liked by a lot of toy communities.

Re: S.H.Figuarts IronMan

Glad to see their improving. My first two, and my last two were the mark 6 and kinnikuman. The exposed and badly placed joints was really an eyesore for me.

Re: S.H.Figuarts IronMan

That revoltech 45 doesn't do anything for me. I suppose it's alright if you like more stylised versions.

Not a fan of the Revoltech Iron Man series. The Figuarts versions are still the best of the 1/12 scale in my opinion.

Exactly. That's how I felt like.

I'd agree if they hadn't started seriously upping their game recently. They've completely reshuffled the company and their brands over the last year. I think the Mafex Mk 45 edges this out, but then again Mafex prototypes always seem to look better than the end product.

I really like the SHF Iron Man figures but I've very much fallen out of love with their Mk 45. It really feels like they're treading water with their Iron Man designs, nothing has wowed me like their Mk VI did, even with improvements in the proportions and general accuracy.

Re: S.H.Figuarts IronMan

And also the huge elbow joints that's bulging below the biceps. I'm not a fan of how they kept on doing that now, especially with all the new engineering that tamashii has been dishing out recently.

Like you said, Revoltech has been doing pretty well with some of their recent offerings and I think people still forget that they even made a great Ultron Prime figure which seems to measure up against the SHF Ultron based on looks and functionality. I mean, it's not like SHF isn't guilty of poor offerings either (I'm looking at you Hulk and Vader).

Also like you, I've slowly been feeling underwhelmed by their recent offerings for Iron Man as well. It's mainly due to how the Mark 45 and 46 are based less on how they look in the movie and actually closer to the concept art. This wouldn't be so bad if they didn't start updating their other figures with better molds like Cap. You don't even get much in the way of accessories anymore, beyond the usual effects parts. If they can do right by trying to make their CW Cap more accurate and even provide a sculpt of Evans, they sure as hell should be stepping up their game for Iron Man too with a movie-accurate mold and a RDJ head sculpt.

Honestly, putting aside QC with the final products, the Mafex Mark 45 actually seems to be the best-looking take of the design, what with the more accurate model and the included Tony Stark head. I just hope that the final product actually turns out as great as it looks. One thing I can say about the upcoming Revoltech though, it actually looks like a fun figure and hilariously it seems to be using a more accurate model than the SHF figure despite the obviously stylized sculpt.

Dont forget Thor.

Hold on, sculpt wise other than the face CW Cap isnt accurate? I think the CW body sculpt is tweaked a bit compared to the AoU.

Dont know about the revoltech sculpt, it looks pretty damn fine the only thing that bothers me is his shoulder pads.

Re: S.H.Figuarts IronMan

Tamashii Nations (Figuarts) just started using the 3-D Face-printing technology AFTER they released the AOU Figuarts. That's why those figures have traditional painted faces.

Figuarts CW Cap is indeed a new sculpt to match his "new" outfit and slightly different proportions. Look at photos and you can easily note the differences between that one and the AOU Cap Figuarts. If there is a re-used part, it might likely be the shoulder pads, but we can't confirm until the figure is released in late May.

Historically, Figuarts, Revoltech, and Figma have not provided any RDJ Stark head-sculpts on any of their Iron Man figures so it's not just Figuarts. Only Revoltech did with the Mark III and it was quite cruddy (but better than Hasbro nowadays). Could be a licensing thing perhaps?

No, they've started using that face printing technology with Michael Jackson.

You're right, I'm not familiar with their Michael Jackson figure.

They just haven't used it more prominently until recently with their Star Wars line (starting with Luke Skywalker), Bruce Lee and now the Civil War figures.

Technically Figma did as well, albeit it was simplified but it still looked like RDJ. Problem was, it was basically an exclusive. Mafex is the next one to give it a shot with their Mark 45.
