Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Ahoy!

I took a few minutes to try a little water treatment on Leia today. I only did the front of the dress below the belt line to see if will be worth going beyond that. I think its a pretty decent improvement. I was only able to manage a few large folds along the length of the dress, but With some patience I think this outfit will look pretty good in the end.

Cheers,

Looks great! I get mine tomorrow so I'll be trying this out. Do I have to use a paper plate or will any plate do? :D

Did you use anything else while wet like hairspray? I'm worried it may discolor or damage the pristine white material. I gotta fix my sleeves. I wish they put a wire in there because they flare out too much. Not a huge deal if you pose with her arms down, but I have her holding the blaster and the puffy sleeves kill the realism.

I can't remember, does she have a wire in the sleeves like Luke?

Best to use the special Hot Toys/Sideshow collectors paper plates, only $10 each, and their purified water spray bottle at $25 for the treatment. [emoji3]

I got her Friday. I didn't have much time to play with her but I do like her a lot.

Great pics but the hood is such a mess, why HT why :slap

I think it can be futzed... I spent literally ten minutes unboxing her and tried to get an action pose with the hood flowing more. The wires are super thin and need to be massaged down the entire length to get any sort of smooth look to it.

It isn't easy to futz but I think with time and patience it can be made to do some cool things.

Yes the wires are very this. I'm almost afraid of breaking them...

Anyone have some detailed water treatment tips? I know it may seem simple enough, I just want to get all the details from an expert here before I go messing up my $200 figure. Thanks in advance!

Those clothes are garbage. Great head sculpt though. Lots-o-Carrie in that head.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Agreed. The head sculpt is fantastic but the outfit is pathetic for this day and age. This figure is an obvious cash-grab from HT. Bare-boned of accessories and a poorly designed outfit. I still bought it, as I need it to complete my "A New Hope" display.

Me too, pretty much an accessory but a VERY IMPORTANT one in that it not only completes the display but makes each figure look better when displayed as a group -- I have not seen one bad group display shot, because they all look so great together.

That's why I believe HT will eventually do a Jawa and a Tusken.

I just picked up an EX Tusken and re-dyed the robes. Placed him on an extra sand trooper base and he fits in perfectly with the rest of the Hot Toys OT gang. If Hot Toys made one I'd definitely pick one up but if not I'll be more than happy with my Sideshow version. Also picking up the SS Jawas. I think they look like a really fun set.

I saw it - he looked great! But I still think HT will do one eventually. I think the Jawas look fun too, in the same way that R2-D2 was fun, if not the greatest quality.

If there's one thing Sideshow is great at, it's Star Wars aliens. Aside from maybe getting a pair of the same left hands or the eye electronics not working, these should be solid figures. Tailoring has always been a strong suit of Sideshow so the clothing shouldn't be an issue (if they have the hood tendrils figured out).

Based on what I've read about X-Wing Luke (their latest human figure) the body was major step up from the earlier Prometheus. Granted, Jawas will be using a smaller body, but I'm hopeful Sideshow take what they've done with their new body and scale it down.
