guess I will buy it for just the clothes. About SS head? I will end up getting a custom one and replacing it.

I still think it looks good, better than any of Beto Matali's.

I think it's most refined and realistic sculpt we've seen of Ash, but it lacks the personality and is a bit too generic looking. You know it's Ash, but if you removed the scaring and blood would you recognize Bruce Campbell?

I'm about 90% sure I'll be buying this once it's I can use a $20 coupon just for the accessories and some clothing bits. I'm pretty happy with my custom as-is, but I really want that hand and Henrietta head. Just wish they'd also done a Kandarian dagger. I don't see them releasing any other figures, so a bit of a bummer not to see that piece also included.

Put my money where my mouth is and ordered this today. Still debating pulling the trigger on GG and GL PF's, but no way I could pass on this.

I see the character of Ash from Evil Dead 2. I care more about the paint aps on the product that ships than an exact replicated portrait of Campbell.

Sideshow picks good licenses, but execution lacks. I mean between USD700 custom and USD240 figure I prefer 240, but I do hope that they'll compensate lack of accessories with superb paint job.
Otherwise I'll wait for the sale or one of those unknown chinese customisers to do Ash.

Like EF, I would definitely take this sculpt with the proto's paint apps over something done by Trevor Grove cast and painted the way SSC's sculpts usually are. I will wait until they show up in-hand to make a final decision, but am still hoping that new company that had the Army of Darkness license will put out something of high quality that I can go for instead.

Well, I just pre-ordered this. A little worried about the quality of the final product but hoping for the best. I really like the proto. Basically, I just didn't want to risk not getting the hand.

Just seeing this now, I think he looks great, never ordered anything from sideshow though so not sure about the quality. I did have a 1/6 van helsing when I was younger, pretty much destroyed him though. If he looks this great it would be a no brainer.

You mean this nugget... thankfully the figures have come a long way since then. But Sideshow likes to throw us an occassional horrendous paint or imovable joint curveball, so look out

Yes! Although I don't remember his face being as shiny. But I do remember thinking he was the greatest Christmas present I ever got, and then continued to "play" with him until it was completely destroyed.

Well they're not really meant to be played with... although the older Sideshow figures were pretty sturdy

Not sure if they were all that shiny... sometimes you can get a bad figure, but Sideshow did have a period of over-glossing their figures.
