Nice Job Stealth, you probably won't able to stop fixing the hair everytime you pick him up for a while. Its just one of those things..... your Chewie is looking great !

You'd be surprised, when moving him around his fur doesn't mess up too much, i just have to futz everything i hate out the box looks is what i meant. The fur under his chin was pretty stuck down on mine but it free'd up eventually. He's definitely a feat of engineering on hot toys part

I'm surprised there is no Clipper Kings review. He is usually one of the first. I enjoy his reviews.

Clipper has taken an indefinite break from reviewing.

That's disconcerting.

The Clipperking might be an aquired taste for some but the guy does reviews that run up to 30 minutes or something and he is never ever boring and when he's done you will have seen the figure in many different angles and positions so you have a good idea what it's like.

With most other reviewers I can't stand it after only a few minutes when they talk about their personal life or whatever, keeps yapping about anything and everything but the subject of the review while the figure just stands there (if it's even in the frame), and that's after about a minute or so of flying logos and other ********. Then the review consists of the reviewer just reading from a paper verbatim what it says on the Sideshow site while being overly enthusiastic. Now, I know that I just described a sponsored review, but many others as well have a runtime of about ten minutes but the actual figure and interesting images or stuff about it is only a couple of minutes.

It's not as simple as that.

Sometimes us Aussies order from Sideshow direct to get an exclusive. Up until recently it was because Sideshow Direct was also quicker (up to 6 months earlier in release) and often cheaper (especially when we were at parity with the US dollar).

Right now is an interesting time because a lot of these figures were put up for PO when our dollar was higher so popcultcha had it's currency hedge on that order done at that rate. So in the example above, the reason it's so cheap to reverse import is the price popcultcha is charging is based on was a higher AUD exchange and with the dollar drop converting back to US is a windfall.

I ordered Han and Chewie from popcultcha because at current exchange rates it's over $100AUD cheaper than sideshow. Plus I used some points to knock another $50 off.

But that gravy train is heading to an end as recent PO's have been locked in at our new horrible exchange rate. Farmboy Luke is $349AUD and Stormtrooper Luke is $359AUD. Convert those back and they are more expensive than Sideshow.

Yeah, as a non australian I don't get to pay local sale tax but Stormtrooper Luke still costs $327AUD and the shipping would come in at $20AUD so Sideshow should come in cheaper than that. I did get lucky and avoided customs from Popcultcha once but the next time they got me. So I alway take that into account when ordering from outside EU. If tax/customs is avoided it's an even bigger win and if not, well it was to be expected anyway.

Not paying the sales tax would be a big help and is also another reason sideshow can be attractive as we don't pay import duty on items under $1000AUD. That might change though if the government pushes through tax reform.

Sideshow is also very easy to deal with for damaged items.

I decide on a case by case basis.

I Think I figured out what bothers me about the Hot Toys Chewie's face. You see how in the picture the eyes are not as deep set as the figure, and the face is not so scrunched up. It looks more doglike.

If Hot Toys would have kept the mouth closed and made the face a little bit longer it would look better. And it looks more like a monkey than a dog.

your tip came in handy dude i did the base with the troopers too makes displaying two figures a lot more classy and less cluttered.

I would go crazy with spending if we had it like that. Thankfully it's mostly just added sales tax here. Probably because looking up the correct customs duty rate would take too much time, better to put 25% + on everything and be done with it.

edit: Just realized that you wrote duty and not tax, but I read it as duty + tax.

PopCultcha are price gouging right now. Look at the crazy $380 price tag for the Ant-Man figure! $450 for Shotgun! Other sellers are well below those prices and some of them also have reward points and free shipping as well. I won't be purchasing any new products from them until they fall into line with other Aussie sellers that are being more reasonable.

I've had him for a whole week. So I definety know what you mean. Actually haven't bothered to brush him even once. Just a little water on the finger tips, soften up the fur under the chin and gently rub and tug.

Pulling out the mustache is a commitment. Don't think I can get it to its original out of box form even if I wanted to. But then again I like my Chewie with a slight stache.

It's never going to be an exact match, but with the futzing people are doing it's looking a helluva lot closer than it ever has before. And now does more than enough to capture the feel and spirit of the character, I think.

I mean it's certainly not as horrifying as the SDCC pics anymore, you have to admit that!
