I'm for one not angry, I can't speak about anyone else but I will stick by my shameless comment I made earlier. I do believe their acts to be questionable and unfair. They meaning (BBTS) was able to gather some sddc exclusives for a respectable price straight from bluefin for below retail I assume. And then they go and sale the product that's already scarce for ebay prices, jumping on the wagon. Letting ebay decide their going rate. Amazon had one also that was in stock. 160 I believe it was.My main thing is that this is how they show their respect for their loyal customers and how they will gauge out their wallets. Goodluck all. We're on the Titanic and we're all awaiting for that life boat to get on.

BBTS have always been scumbags. They regularly take their prices based on the aftermarket and charge maybe slightly less. I despise them, overrated, overpriced and scalpy. As for Amazon that was from an individual seller, not Amazon officially. They don't officially sell exclusives.

Guys, this is nothing new, Big Bad Toys Store has shown this behavior in the past. As have other retailers...no surprise...

Biggest difference is that the quantities on Frieza Saga Goku were much less than Arlia Vegeta and let's also be honest, Goku in this Frieza Saga outfit from arguably the most important saga in all of DBZ was much more desirable than a Vegeta who looked like he was about to go to a Rave.

I hope Bluefin carries it for most of you all and you can snag it up.

Also look at it this way:

-Cost of SDCC 1-day Badge: $35 for Preview Night and Sunday, $50 each for Thurs., Fri., Sat., Around $200 if you do a 4-day Badge (Those are 2015 rates, likely to go up AGAIN in 2016)
-Cost of Round-trip Airline Ticket: Varies on location, but estimated $200-300+ (If driving, gas can cost you too)
-Cost of Hotel: Approx. $200-$250/night depending on how close you want to be.

Misc. Costs:
-Food/Snacks/Drinks/etc.
-Gas (if you rent a car)
-Parking Fees
-Money for other Touristy things around San Diego
-Luggage costs (if you fly)
-Other Stuff you want to BUY at SDCC

You're looking at possible costs well over $1,000 USD if you fly into San Diego, rent a hotel, and spend all 4 days AND Preview Night at SDCC. My brother and I flew in Wednesday and stayed until Monday for SDCC 2014. We spent A LOT of money and it adds up when you don't realize it.

I'm not defending the scalpers (or online retailers), but just realize that even if you did go to SDCC...that price tag on that Exclusive might be $45, but the "true" cost of it is much more than that when you combine the total price it takes you to get there. Even at double, sometimes triple the price, the Exclusives end up being "cheaper" than what it would take for you to get out there (depending on your location, maybe you know someone in San Diego, etc. etc.).

That's what I've said before! Even if you only spend one day, let's say just Preview night, adding in the ticket plus the cost of the exclusive is more than what most scalpers are charging. I mean obviously, the experience is worth the ticket and everything else but strictly for the exclusive, it's expensive to get it even if you go. At the end of it all, if no one paid the crazy prices, they wouldn't be so crazy.

Forgot the countless hours waiting in line to get it. I know I would rather look around then wait in line for a figure. I myself would of probably went to SDCC and would of bought Goku online. :lol

lol way to be overdramatic :lol

If some of us miss out on this then whatever, ya win some ya lose some. life goes on~
I was being super duper uberly dramatic there. XD Just showing how popular and how scarce this figure is and for some reason those darn life boats from the titanic popped up to mind. Wasn't tensed on the first day waiting for the sdcc goku to pop up for sale on the net?

I'm relativity new at purchasing from online stores so my knowledge base on BBST is really low. I only know what I've read on forums like this one. But they do seem like scumbags and i'll never purchase from them. I'm sure some will disagree and that's their right.
Is that what it was? I seen the price and just blew right pass that listing. I hope RK get one from Amazon though, seriously.

And as a collector, scalping is the reason we pay those ridiculous prices, and that's the pov I'm speaking from right now. Just because people will pay it doesn't make it right.

I understand its just the hustle but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Exactly. The line of reasoning also simply doesn't hold up. There's tons of stuff that you can do to people that's technically legal and still considered scandalous and wrong. Why? Because you're hurting people with it for your own gain. Rules and legality don't decide what's right and wrong, right and wrong informs what should be rules and legal. As far as I'm concerned scalping falls under legal exploitation, because you're trying to screw people over, sometimes without any form of significant way to resist being screwed (whether you buy or not, in both cases you lose), in a situation that wasn't called to life to make money off. Intent isn't above or outside of morality. And the intent is to screw someone over, plain and simple. Well I give the finger to that. Why am I not advocating its illegality then? Because it's principally impossible to draw a line when something is scalping within a reasonable framework, but moreover because its for numerous reasons impossible to put into practice. Which goes for a lot of sucky stuff. Legality is in a lot of instances not an effective way to combat undesired behaviour. None of that changes the fact that I think you're screwing people over and that is what I shelve under the term 'wrong', whether it's legal or not.

That said, the moral distinction between scalpers and people who go along with an object increasing in value due to rarity I acknowledge to some extent, though that line isn't truly clear cut. Do I also understand people wanting money for effort, in principle? Of course, but in my opinion it's ****ed up to buy an exclusively sold item just to make money of of it, when it's meant for fans. It's exploiting a situation that isn't meant for what you're doing with it, and I find that ****ed up. Is that legal? Yes. But so is getting a serial killer off because there wasn't enough proof. Do we all feel that the latter is ****ed up, despite it being legally correct? I ****in hope so. Well from that very same perspective I think it's ****ed up when people disrupt something that's meant to make fans happy, for their own ****ing gain to make money of of it. **** that. It adds to making the world a less fun place, so **** that imo. That bleedin simple.

You wanna get your investment back? Fine. You wanna cash in on luck that an item has become rare over time? Fine. But snatching up an item on release, made for fans, because you're in the position of power to manipulate the system that way, just to make money of the desirability, **** that. In all its god damn forms. Don't give a **** if consumers buy it or not, the intension itself is crap imo.

Was indeed crazy bro, they need to figure out something new for next year. this was ridiculous
Our oldest posting member has spoken!:lecture

EDIT: You'd think that the people that make these figures would realize that a lot of their core fan base is getting shafted by scalpers and flippers and do something to maybe help us out in our hunt.
Every explanation of them not doing so sucks one way or another imo.
Lasted about 40 minutes... This is ridiculous.
Jep
$120 is to much for this little ass figure.
And jep again.
Well, I no longer have to worry. My buddy managed to get me one at the cost of his own spare. He only got a couple but i am incredibly grateful to him, he knows who he is ;)
Congrats! Now thats someone who chooses to add to making the world a nicer place! Kudos, whoever you are.

If some of us miss out on this then whatever, ya win some ya lose some. life goes on~

Ultimately, true! But without diminishing that, I think Tamashii should never do such a highly desired release as an event exclusive again, and I think the why of that is plenty clear. I think by chance we could've bet on this happening, but now it's a fact. If tamashii doesn't take that into account next time, then **** that.

Well that depends...unless you live in San Diego and can get to the Con quite easily, at bare minimum you're looking at spending $80 ($35 for Preview Night OR Sunday and $45 for ONE SDCC Goku figure). That is NOT including any additional gas money, public transportation costs, parking costs, food/snack costs, etc.

I do understand where you're coming from, prodigy...

It's one of lifelong goals to take down BBTS, there's a reason they're called Big BAD Toy Store. Never got the appeal since there's much better places out there that are 99% cheaper even if they charge for shipping. When I buy figures, I got where it's cheapest and BBTS never is. For anyone living in the U.S., Bluefin Premium is always an option for this exclusive. For my international friends, I don't know since that's not my department. eBay may be the only bet unfortunately. I feel like the high price now is due to the current convention hype. When MexiGoku first came out, his price was higher than it is now and later on it dipped to a mere $500 baseline lol. Same could happen with this figure so don't give up hope. There's still some lifeboats left on this ship!

I got that lifeboat as you will say. A close buddy of mines was able to come through for me , his girlfriend really. Got the Goku obtained, not physically but you get the point. Only thing I have to do is give her my android 18 xD. But I still worry about everyone else on this forum, on other forums and those who participated in 2015 sdcc and wasn't able to get one. I know it's not a life and death situation, for me it isn't but there's those that really take this collecting business to heart and are having trouble with this particular figure. I care not to even chat about a BBTS, only thing I will say and I do agree with you, my first options will never be them. And my last will probably never be also.

Damn, that's a good trade! 18's valued at around $100 give or take. I know man, it really does pain me to see the sorry state collecting is in, especially with DBZ figuarts. The scalpers own the market. The figures have such an inflated perceived value when they shouldn't go for more than $100 a pop in the aftermarket. I feel 80% of the people that obtained Goku's aren't even real collectors and are either scalpers or people that buy extras simply to sell them for insane profit later. I mean, Figuarts have become an investment really more than a collectible. It really blows for newbies in the line too. It's damn near impossible for them to get a complete or even near complete collection without forking over a small fortune :ohbfrank:

If only I were rich, I'd buy a bunch of FS Gokus and 2011 Gokus to turn into prizes then I'd hold contests like raffles and such each week lol :)

Damn sold out? This is just my luck. My internet stopped working for a couple hours right when I was about to get one, and now that its back there's none for around $120. Finally got caught up with all the releases and thought I would never have to pay over $100 for any of the new figures, but looks like I'm screwed unless Bluefin or another retailer gets them in. Even then, they'll probably be sold out by the time I find out. :cuss

Really surprised this SDCC exclusive sold out on BBTS. In the past you could easily get the exclusives coz stayed available for more than a month. I just hope Tamashii made a lot for other sources and maybe the price would eventually go down to a fair amount. I was excited and looking forward in getting this Goku. This is the first exclusive I missed out and I have a complete DBZ SHFiguarts collection (minus brown Vegeta). :(

Still won't buy from a scalper. If this means I won't have this version of Goku so be it.

Well if anyone is willing to go into a bidding war here you guy
