Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

I ended up just going and picking mine up Saturday before work and have yet to open it. I'm not sure how to find out what number it is, but there's a sticker on the side that says, "Daredevil: 500296U" so I'd wager mine is 296, and the U stands for unframed? Not that the numbers matter much in the end!

I'll be taking it to Michael's tonight to get the framing process started (so long as the right set of custom frames are on sale) so I'll finally get to see it there. I'll be sure to tell them not to touch it! :lol Apparently it takes two weeks for them to frame it, but that's all good. I'm sure this experience will end up being like all those, "add your own toppings" ice cream stores, where every little thing adds even more onto the final cost! I'm sure it'll end up being fairly simple, but it's still a lot cheaper to go this route than to get the frame shipped up to Canada!

The 500296 is an item number I think because mine says the same thing but I got #242.

I wish they offered this one framed. I really like it. Going to have to save up some money to have it done at the local shop.

Oh, okay then. I guess I'll find out what number I have later tonight! And it looks great Zod! Congrats! Into the new portfolio it goes! :clap

Any plans to get custom framing for any just yet?

Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

I haven't decided on which ones to get framed yet. I'll probably wait until after SDCC before deciding anything since I want to save up some money for that week and framing gets expensive. This one is definitely going to look good framed though so it's a contender.

There's a sticker on one of the ends of the tube with print name and number

That's good to hear!! But that's probably a smart plan of action, especially since you have a portfolio to hold them in the meantime! I mean, you can check them out whenever you like, so they don't have to stay in the roll, which is a big bonus. Once SDCC has come and gone and you know more or less where your funds will be allocated, then chipping away at getting them framed will definitely be easier!

It does suck how quickly framing adds up! I'm expecting a painful number when I finalize what I want...better to plan high and be pleasantly surprised! :lol

The Daredevil print turned out really good, I get mine today.

Mine haven't been coming with the numbers on the tube for a long time. There's an item number with the name but the numbers have never matched what I got on the print.

Yeah, I checked all the stickers and couldn't find one either. Just got back from the custom framing store and I had #150, which I thought was kind of a nice, round number hitting the halfway mark of the run! :)

I didn't get a really good, take it all in look at the print, but from what I did take in I love it! I think it turned out fantastic! The red/orange reflection off Daredevil and in the "rain" looks magnificent and pops beautifully! I'm incredibly happy with it.

I ended up getting a dark grey metallic frame that kind of gives off a stone/industrial vibe that I thought suited the print and Daredevil! I'll post pictures once I get it back in two weeks. As for a final cost...the custom framing came out to $212 Canadian.

That's quite pricey, but I ended up going with the "Masterpiece" glass, which actually gives off almost zero reflection. That was an extra $30, and I figured why not, since I won't be doing this often. It's pretty insane, as it actually looks like there's no glass there at all, so it should be interesting to see how it comes out! Can't wait to get it back! :)

That sounds really cool. Make sure to take some pictures once you get it back. :)

Can't wait to see pics of it.

Thanks Medusoid! I'll definitely take some shots of it when I get it back on the 22nd (if not sooner!) I'll take some close up shots of the frame as well to try and get the texture across. It's fairly simple, but also goes for the idea I was aiming for without all the heavy design or taking away from the print itself!

Michael's has sales that rotate every week, though with their Custom Framing (there are four types) there are two that go on sale, and then whenever the sale changes it'll put the other two up. But the lady told me that one side was up for about five weeks, and it just changed over. She bent the rules a bit and gave me the sale price saying she'd just say she thought it was on the sale wall...I'm sure that's allowed anyway, but it was still nice of her. Saved me waiting for the frame to eventually go on sale! So it was basically $70 off due to her "error." :)

Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

Based on your description that sounds like an awesome frame and well worth the cost. Can't wait to see it.

Thanks! It's fairly simple in design, but that's what I was hoping for. I think it'll work as a whole! I'm excited to see it finished and let you guys check it out as well!

And I was sure to tell them to be careful with it too! :lol I'd never seen one of their prints before, but it actually looks like it's made of such a light dust that if you blew on the print it'd all fly off! She said that these types of prints are harder to work with when framing because you have to be so careful.

She also said something you guys may want to know, which is the longer you keep any picture in a roll, the more that will work into the memory of the paper! That doesn't mean go out and spend hundreds of dollars now and make sure they're all framed, but she recommended putting them into a sleeve if you can't get it framed right away. Something that will protect it so you can get it out of the roll as soon as possible.

I know not everyone really worries about that, but I thought I'd pass along the tip for anyone that may be interested! :)

Really? ...Crap.

I have an amazing GOTG print I'm not going to be able to frame anytime soon, so I've kept it in the tube for now. I think I'm going to take it out and try to put it somewhere safe. I don't want to keep it rolled up and risk damaging the print; I'm not going to be able to replace it if something happens to it.

Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

I highly suggest getting portfolio books for prints. I have several in different sizes for the ones I know I'm not going to get framed soon (or at all). They make it easy to look through so you can still enjoy the unframed prints--plus, they take up a hell of lot less space than tubes.
