Speaking of what figure got us into the line. As I said it was scouter Vegeta, but what got me onto him was this video:

Went to NYCC last year and Tamashii had a booth set up with all figuarts to date. I thought "Oh these are cool." Reminded me that DBZ was awesome. Got home and did research and cried slowly at the prices of everything I missed. A17 was my first. Got him for kicks just to check out the quality of the figure and I was truly impressed. Got everyone after him. Heart broken I won't ever be able to get trunks

Rumor goes that Datong might have a Trunks release so you may be in luck or if Tamashii decides to re-release but I trust Datong more tbh.

@crisis: Hey, those old figures weren't that bad. I always enjoyed going to the Warner Bros. store to see who was new. (Warner Bros. store should indicate how long ago that was.) Scouter Vegeta's faces are spot on. I can see how that caught a lot of people's attention. Much better than his Super Saiyan faces.

Can of Beams always delivers. Is that second effect supposed to be Hell's Flash? I always thought the Iron Man Figuart effects would make nice Hell's Flash effects. Does anyone have any Can of Beams stuff? I really wanna get the Special Beam Cannon, it turned out great

I think he just used a regular yellow blast as Hell's Flash. Yeah, definitely agree about the Iron Man Figuart effects. Which is why I was kind of stumped when they didn't add them Android 16. I'm sure they're going to be included with the TWO new Iron Man S.H. Figuarts.

In regards to Trunks, Datong is open and direct about it because there's nothing legally/"ethically" holding them back. Tamashii's still running around it.

I'm a late bloomer so I started with the Super Saiyan Goku figure late last year and steadily bought new dbz figuarts as they came out. Got base form Goku, Android 16, 17, 18, Broly, Piccolo, and Kuririn. I'm an old school dbz fan and have been reading the manga before Viz released the manga in English. In fact, Dragonball is the sole reason that a CBC like me can read Chinese in the first place. And because I am proficient in Chinese and English, it landed me a translating job over Joy Sales in Hong Kong with my first project with them being the Hong Kong dvd release of Jackie Chan's The Myth and Rob-b-Hood. I told this story to Ryo Horikawa when I met him in Toronto last year and he was surprised about it. The fact that a gag manga with segments parodying Jackie Chan and Golden Harvest would end up motivating a kid to read and do work for the guy they parodied many years ago. Like a full circle.

Jackie even insisted in sending me a free autographed copy of his movie and I have Dragonball to blame...err...thank...for this.

So i just ordered normal goku for $50 on amazon seems like a good deal now a days. I also picked up 16 for $61 nothing inflated for him so that was good, now i just wait

Yeah...i got a couple of normal goku's. My friend gave me his and kept the kamehameha effect for his personal use.

Bit late to reply (tapatalks been acring up and not sending updates to my phone) but that bootleg cell just looks like a better painted version of the horrible single jointed monstrosities you get cheap on ebay. They added Frieza to the set recently too.

I used to be totally opposed to bootlegs, but to me, as long as they are good quality copies and arent recent, still in stock figures I think tamashii deserves the competition with their reissue policy. If anything the bootlegs can help bring the price of the real ones down a bit, because the scalpers need brought down a peg or 20 as it stands. I own all the real ones, but datong ssj Vegeta is the only bootleg that doesnt deserve the "its a bootleg, you arent a collector" crap.

I also agree though, that if any bootleg does finally receive a real reissue then I would expect bootlegs to be binned as mine will be (minus Trunks head, that isnt a bootleg its a custom)

To me the coloring on datong ssj Vegeta is a little off. At least in pictures, he seems a bit orange-faced. I prefer the paint on datong scouter vegeta. But for most of these datongs you have to be within a few inches to tell the difference between them and tamashii's legitimate figures. And I cant even be bothered with the whole "you're not a collector because reasons" attitude. Save that for the neckbeards.

Whats always got me is, With the amount of times Cell was blasted in half etc, if 17 and 18 were still inside him, then where the hell were the bodies?? I doubt he had like Buus ability to shrink his victims so is cell literally just a shell with a brain? Was always curious about that one!

The spray tan face isn't as bad in person. There is actually variation from figure to figure. I had purchased two of them, and one had a bit more orange than the other. Luck of the draw.

Does anyone know where to buy the japanese release of figuarts besides ebay? I know vegetto is going to be released in Japan on the 24th. I was just wondering how much more it would cost me to buy him from Japan. I don't where I would buy him either. All help is apprciated guys.

If you are interested in the version sold in Japan I recommend you check in Nippon-Yasan at the moment is not available, but they tend to buy more figures that are sold in pre-orders (depending on demand price starts to increase once the figure is available).

Since Broly (from what I've seen in reviews) version sold in Japan began to have the silver label and not golden as it was before (the same happened with Android No.16).

About how much it costs to send, they have 11 methods, you can do a simulation with some figure weighing 200 grams* (which is the weight of Vegetto) and so know how much they will charge for shipping.

*Ultra-Act Ultraman Tiga Multi Type have that weight.

To add to what Orbital said, the American version is literally just the japan Versions with a bluefin translation sticker on the bottom. Same factory, different destination. Toei stickers arent an indication of quality, thats a myth. The only reason to get a japanese version is to get it quicker, but you pay a premium to do so.
