Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

A lot of these collectibles are over $200.00. Some are worth it, some aren't. A lot of these can be had on the after market for less than the original price. Times are tough for some it's not easy to squeeze out the money each month for the collectibles so many are picking and choosing on what they want and what they can afford. I know Sideshow offers payment plans but when you have say three items that you want all coming out at the same time that's still around $100.00 a month for 3 - 5 months.

What happened to the coupon code thread? I know this is it, but where is it located? I came upon this by googling "Sideshow freaks SSC coupon codes". How do I get here from the home page? It use to be under Marvel action figures.

It's under "other > sandbox". You can also subscribe to the thread.

That's why it was moved. If you're not signed in, we don't want the messages visible. This also prevents them from being indexed by Google. There's no sense in archiving old codes in a publicly searchable manner.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

With so much surplus of stock does anyone think that Sideshow or Hot Toys will revamp their production plans next year?

They might cut back on the quantity they ship to the US. On the other hand, maybe we'll get fewer characters like Tonto, Jake Sully, Noland, etc. and get some characters that people actually want (my apologies to people that did want those figures.) In my mind, they would also be more likely to sell characters if they released more than a single figure for each movie. I bet more people would have bought Tonto if they had a Lone Ranger to display him with.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

I think it's too difficult to judge what figure will sell well and which won't. I mean who know they would be discounting MOS Superman as much as Tonto? There is no guarantee. They just figure out if the risk is worth it to see if the figure will sell, like taking a risk with Marty McFly.

True. Really, they're taking a stab in the dark about how well the movie will perform in the box-office. It seems that generally they're making these figures well before the theatrical release of the movies. I could see a lot of people pre-ordering MoS Superman and then cancelling after the very mixed reviews for the film. Myself, I find that I did enjoy the movie but am also shaking my head every time I watch it over the ridiculous level of destruction.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

Maybe they already redid their plans and that's why they have the surplus? How many HT figures in the last year have sold completely out relatively quickly or at all, that weren't limited release/toy fair type stuff? Doesn't seem like that much.

From a business standpoint, if HT only makes so many of a figure and it sells out quickly, aren't they losing money by not making more? Is it better to sell out quickly and be done, or to make more/sell more of it and have it in stock for a long time.

The interesting thing will be how many people hold back now and don't PO stuff because of the recent sales.

Which in turn could cause HT to under-produce which would limit the availability of their product and drive up the cost of their items.
