Awesome stuff Scott. Love the TM Vader ;) I will be posting pics later of my recently acquired SL ANH Vader... a personal grail of mine. Love the Derwent too bro...

Thanks! And congrats on the SL... nice! My SL is off being finished right now... I will have them together soon. But naturally cannot share details pics. Just general ones. As you know. ^_^

Well, I started this today:

Comparison with a classic ANH Stormtrooper helmet:

in another shot I've seen the lenses are still the original shape and the tear drop etc appears to be just sculpted and painted details, overall I like it with just the lack of ear bumps annoying me, hopefully the helmet will maintain the same proportions to the body armour as the OT as well to avoid pin head syndrome. Hopefully troops stay helmeted 100% of the time like the OT too

Looks great! Love the stand too.

What T track is that? Man I tell you, the Gino T Track was a mega PITA to bend and get into the holes.

Thank you. :duff The stand is full metal, very solid and sturdy, with foam protectors on the blaster holders, and it was made by my talented friend Matt Black who also made the Yoda lamps.

That is Gino T-track, I have 2 sets. These ones were already installed when I got my blaster, but I have a second set professionally bent by PWC (see pics below), the same guy who made the E-11 cylinders we use. He did a fantastic job at bending them, even better than Vos who initially added the first ones present to this day on my blaster. Maybe some day I should replace the old Gino t-tracks with new Gino ones.

I really hope troopers in the Sequel Trilogy to be 100% helmeted as well

very nice! Yeah I have a second set of Gin Track for a second attempt... it sucks... the Marv Track is MUCH easier to work with, but not correct.

To get the lid, we signed an agreement saying as much. The SL owner and owners don't want the details to get into shady recaster hands. There's some people who have been trying to get one for just that reason.

Fan made Vader Helmet that's from one of the original molds I believe, actually the same one EFX used? Not really any cleanup on it etc so it's considered one of the most accurate.

It's a cast from one of the earliest molds of the original screen used ANH Vader helmet. So second Gen direct from the real deal. The lineage is pretty cool, and the details on the cast are pretty amazing. There are a few of these types of casts, and this one has some of the best geometry. All of these uber casts have slight variances, as they were taken from the moulds at different times, etc.

This particular one, is only purchased by approval and you sign a sort of NDA agreement, saying you will not post high res pics of it etc. to keep the details out of recaster's hands. So you have to first get approval to buy it, then pay to have it cast. It's one of those that only super vader or accuracy nuts will be crazy enough to try to get.

What he said :) A Vader collectors dream cast, I can actually match my SL with HD screen shots, with the most minute details...its actually crazy how much detail is retained in the SL cast. Super rare and like Scott said, only a piece you would go after if you are crazy.

I wouldn't have tried to bend them myself, especially with my health condition.

As for SL Vader, that is the ultimate Vader helmet to own. I talked to Thomas some time ago and I'm trusted enough to be able to get one some day. But right now a few other important items are coming.

Heh. That seems like more hoops to jump through than if you were to buy one of the actual, original helmets used in the damn films. In that case i think I'd understand. For a copy, no matter how good, or how direct... crazy sounds like an apt description.

:lol Smells of either high levels of pretentiousness, fear of hoarded information getting out in the open, or both.

It is based on trust actually, Thomas is a really cool guy with an amazing knowledge of Vader... and is not pretentious at all. As for fear...not really, it is mostly for the protection of someone getting scammed and the integrity of the piece. Even now on ebay you can see sellers who have already recast the eFX Vader adding surface details and are trying to pass it off as a direct lineage helmet.

For me, because I am a Vader collector primarily, that was my motivation. I own an eFX Legend and it is awesome, but for production reasons they couldn't leave all the detail on it and that lessens the piece for me. I wanted something more...and the SL was it. I know that Gino's personal eFX master has all the surface detail of the SL, but he can't/won't post pics of it for the same reason.

Yeah, it's a bit nuts, and it DOES sound pretentious, but it's not. There are WAY too many shady dudes out there doing exactly what Jack said... casting the EFX or other known direct lineage casts and pawning them off as something they're not. Trying to get large $$$ adding fake details. The more you arm these guys with info, the more people they dupe.
