Let me start by saying that I’m not one of those people that have a problem with the way you speak and I’m not offended in the least by the fook word :lol. I actually dig the lingo from our brothers across the pond, I like you passion for the hobby and I dig your reviews. I think you do a great job and definitely know your s__t when it comes to the mass produced side of the hobby, but I have to say that it’s very evident that you’re completely out of your element when you’re talking about customs. You said that you won’t be offended if someone comes forth to say that you have it wrong…. so I don’t want you to be offended when I tell you that you have it waaaaaay off brother. Everything that you said is the usual set of ideas that we’ve heard 100 times from people who lack knowledge of the way the custom world works, and have ideas that are full of misconception and assumption.

I’m honestly wondering why you wanted to even spend an hour to review these figs? You don’t like Clint, don’t like this movie much or westerns at all in general, don’t really like customs and seem to have a set of feelings about custom collectors… so why review them? It’s kind of hard to be fair and honest when there is that much bias and misconception involved. For the 10 reasons already mentioned and another 50 more, you can’t compare mass produced stuff and customs in an apple to apple fashion. And to compare them to Carlito??? That may be the best mass produced sculpt TO DATE that sits on top of a great body with an awesome outfit and includes great extras… for $160-$180. HT won’t even give us that kind of package for that price point anymore. That figure is far from your average everyday 1/6 offering. But if Denny produced 3000(+/-) Blondies like BW surely did Carlito, then I’m sure it would’ve been offered in a much more similar price range.

Dude I like what you do but my humble opinion is you should stick to reviewing mass produced stuff. As is there is plenty of misconception out there about the custom offerings; no need to spread any more

Truthful? Fair & balanced?? What's going on with you bro :lol. You're a guy that is a straight art figure collector, isn't into to the mass produced product and you find his ideas about customs truthful?

Of course. Most people in this hobby have a parts bin and some of us custom nuts have a very extensive bins filled with hand sets, bodies, weapons, etc. I even change the hands on my Rainman figs because even though he includes official TT (most of the time), only the 2 pair that come with the body are included and most times that's less than what's needed.

The thinking that custom producers should include hands that are perfectly suitable for the accessories in a set is fueled by more misconception. They don't use injection moulding methods so how would this be done? With resin? So we could get rock hard, unmalleable hands that also don't work well with the accessories?

Pop, you and I have had some disagreements in the past... but today is NOT one of those days.

Well said! :clap

Right on Pop. Couldn't have said it better if I tried.

Hands are also one of the greatest problem areas of the entire hobby. HT often have very poor hands (especially their atrocious gun hand).

Curious Pop, was the comments about the hands directed at me? I never said I wanted a better body or hands, I don't even need hands, like you said have a bin full to the top of them, I don't care for Iminimes "shiny" hands but I'm not complaining about paying for them, I just replace them easily.

Agreed! :goodpost: I have never replaced an Iminime body, I do however replace all of their hands but thats easy, forgot who else said it but who doesn't have plenty of spare hands around? The bodies are good, hands are horrible but easily replaceable.

Also agree. I haven't changed out a body recently, no problem there. The hands, yes, but has been mentioned, it is across the board and not an isolated problem.

No brother, not in the least bit. I'm referring to the notion that Denny should produce his own hand sets for each character. Whoever is hip to the game knows that's not feasible and that upgrading hands are accepted as common practice.

Haha k figured, just didn't want ya to think I felt differently, definitely agree with ya.

So thanks to Clipper's review, Denny took well to the criticism and is considering a fundraiser to improve his products. Just sayin.

Can I just pop in and say that I absolutely hate everything about figure boxes and it drives me nuts when ppl complain about the box not being cool lol. Accessories suck too. When I get a figure with a bunch of hands and extras it pisses me off. I wanna display the figure with ONE accessory and walk away

Denny is and always has been looking for ways to improve his products and takes everyones advice. He is truly a very kind person with great business ethics and care for his consumer base. Clippers review was on point - aside from packaging. I totally disagree with him on that. But im glad the review was done because if anyone takes constructive critisism and puts it to work, its Denny.

This thread's hilarious. Boys and their toys.

Please look at my collection thread... Link in my sig... And tell me if I have a toy collection or a gallery exhibit.

sorry for my continued ignorance , I know im only a mass production reviewer/non sponsored member of dennys crew and therefore don't really have a valued opinion or the right to say the plus and minus points on these totally handmade , reasonably priced , perfect works of art . but havin said all that I have been lucky enough to review ....iminime rick and daryl , iminime chaplin , serang kims jimi Hendrix , iminime wall street killer and iminime fight club figures and now the good the bad and the ugly set so I have a little knowledge , also on top of that ive seen about 150 hot toys , 20 enterbay , 2 blitzway , 3a and vehicles and robots but anyway ....if the chaplin was made by iminime along with ZCWO and when compared to blondie (not taking the desirablity into account) the head sculpt was as good , the paint was as clean , the outfit as well tailored in fact the chaplin shoes were better , chaplin had more accessories including more hands (same **** quality though) the chair with awesome , the walking cane , included a proper display stand and was even package in a pressed wood style presentation box and yet chaplin was and is still $300 cheaper !!!!! is this down to ZCWOs inclusion ? and if so why now still work with em to keep your prices down ?

ive gotta say this is one of the most interesting threads ive seen , it really shows what people will accept and what others aspect for there money and how some are willing/unwilling for complete the figure at home with additional hands and bodies !!!! would they be so willing to do that with there Hot Toys figure ? I don't think so .

also thanks to all the guys who have commented on my review comments section (RaiderInNy) in particular , you've hit the nail on the head with all your points and your insights into some of these "custom collectors" has been uncanny . please have a read . thanks vic

The chaplain figure is not a custom. It's a mass produced piece. The figure was designed by iminime. But the production was handled in a factory...hence ZCWOs involvement. The cost is mitigated by the numbers produced. How many times do we need to explain this to you?

And if hot toys or company X for that matter released a good enough representation of a favorite character of mine... And the only way to get said character was to buy the set and replace the body and hands... Then you best believe I would. Body and hands are the easiest part of a kitbash in many cases (unless you bashing a teenager or a naked fat man) lol, I've bought a Toys figure and replaced the clothes, main accessories AND sculpt you think a body is gonna stop me? About the ONLY thing worth keeping on the DX 5 is the body and the hands--and some would argue that the hands are the ONLY thing. The stand and pedestal are nice too. But the Kato clothes, fisher accessories and any number of custom sculpts are better than the factory release. And by a lot

I also asked why iminime didn't continue to work in that way with ZCWO if they know they could get that quality at that price , and also produce a bigger run size

Because the only way to justify the cost of mass production is to sell 3000 units. If 70 units can sometimes bring the ire if legal departments with regards to unlicensed work than how much negative and unwanted attention would selling 3000 bring?! An operation of that size would be brandished a cease and desist order faster than you could say ZCWO. So licensed figures are the only way to do it. And chaplain is licensed by the late actors family/estate. ZCWO would not get involved in unlicensed production because they are a large firm with factories and assets

Licenses are very expensive. Upward of $20k and also include royalties on all sales. (Likely what drives up hot toys prices every year as hot toys is required to provide Marvel and Disney larger and larger dividends to keep the licenses and their profits flowing)

Do you think Goodfellas would sell 9000 units? What about Lenny from memento?
