I think that sez it all, Good Reply Rage

Apparently this was a reply but I can't see anything at this point... I missed it!

Say what? :lol

Test it before you mock Ink! I'm telling you!

Outside of the big 3, most of the JLA does not have the popularity of the core X-Men.

Outside of the nerds you know I'm willing to bet not many people can tell you much of anything about Black Canary or Martian Manhunter. But I bet you they'll know who Mystique and Storm are. Movies, TV and video games are the main reason why. Exposure.

At my job I'm known as the comic guy... I tend to use revolving desktops that change on their own, it's amazing how many people who don't actively read the comics look at popular characters on my desktop background or phone and go "who is that?" I often get "what's a Flash?". I've even gotten "whats JLA?"... no, not with each letter sounded out as J-L-A, but actually said as if it's one word pronounced "jlaah". What's even more interesting is below the JLA banner is an array of members right there yet people will still question what "jlaah" is. A coworker of mine had Darkseid on his desktop, he said I'm the only person who knew who it was. Put Magneto up, and far more people know who it is.

I have also gotten "Wolverine doesn't look like that!" before in response to pics of him with the mask on, but it still stands he was at least recognized by most in his comic appearance. Don't believe me, test it yourself.

Re: Jean Grey - Jim Lee Era

Its called short term memory.

Some will remember Superfriends and others won't. Xmen movies are more recent but it sounds to me like your coworkers are completely oblivious to most of this stuff.

I would agree as an whole the X-men are probably more known then the Justice League due to all the X-Men movies (although that will probably change as Justice League movies come out), but IMO I still think the Trinity (WW, Bats and Supes) are still more popular then all the X-men together. I also think Joker / Lex Luthor is far more known and popular then Magneto or any other X-Men bad guy..

Re: Jean Grey - Jim Lee Era

I know a lot guys will disagree with me, but I really hope that this new Jean Gray and brown suit Wolverine don't have the "X" base. Any rumors??

i personally hate the x-bases…a cheap out imo..it makes them look tacky..i would've preferred just plain black like pcs is doing with their mk classic line..

Re: Jean Grey - Jim Lee Era

Its called short term memory.

Some will remember Superfriends and others won't. Xmen movies are more recent but it sounds to me like your coworkers are completely oblivious to most of this stuff.

I have MANY coworkers from all different backgrounds. I think they're a good representative mix. I can even go back to school when I had comics in my notebooks and others would notice and have no clue who some of the "popular" characters are. How many knew Iron Man before the movie? What's popular in the comic universe isn't always popular overall. Most of the WORLD is oblivious to this stuff. And also, they don't care nearly as much. Aside from the relatively recent super hero success movies with the Avengers, all they know is Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, Joker, Robin, Hulk and Catwoman. And probably close to that order.

I would agree as an whole the X-men are probably more known then the Justice League due to all the X-Men movies (although that will probably change as Justice League movies come out), but IMO I still think the Trinity (WW, Bats and Supes) are still more popular then all the X-men together. I think so, too, everything you said. The Trinity is probably more popular than all other comic characters save for Spider-Man, who I think is safe to say Marvel's undisputed most popular character (trying not to inject my obvious bias). And I'd probably add Catwoman to your Joker/Lex mix with all 3 being more popular than any X-Men villain. Batman's top villains are more widely popular than X-Men villains.

But Firestorm, Zatanna, Animal Man, Red Tornado, Vixen, Martian Manhunter, Atom, Black Canary, Doctor Fate, etc... Shaq probably made STEEL more popular than those guys and for all the wrong reasons lol... great characters many of them are but they ain't got nothing on the X-Men.

The only benefit to the X-bases is that it gives the whole set uniformity. And since they ruined that by doing some with X-bases and some with rock bases, why even bother now? I'd like to see something similar to the Sinestro PF where her base is transparent pink telekinetic energy.

Re: Jean Grey - Jim Lee Era

We can always Dream that they will do more of the X-Men Characters on X-Bases  including revisiting some we have already, that said, my personal opinion I think the X-Bases look Cool and signifies what they are as being in the X-Men Universe like Colossus, Gambit, Rogue and Psylocke all Great Museum Poses and also like the Ms.Marvel, Spiderwoman are on Avenger bases as for the rock bases I get the impression that these are part of a specific story line, like Cyclops, Wolverine, Sabertooth and Storm and I reiterate I would like to see the later on X-Bases + Mystique and Illyana

Be Cool
