And indeed blood. I want normal Goku for a full namek display with frieza, piccolo, goku and namek vegeta. I collect and setup era based pretty strictly. My saiyan saga Vegeta is either gonna stay alone, paired with Nappa or with Goku or both. And considering it's the main character's most iconic look, that alone makes me probably buy goku twice, just in case. If finances allow me of course.

One Piece is just too whacky for me in that anime type that doesn't appeal to me. I also don't really dig the thematic setting of the world. To boot, I admit, I dislike it when drawing styles divert to unrealistically (which is why I find a lot of modern kids cartoon abysmal). I've always loved that DBZ, for all it's included whackiness, actually has quite a realistic and awesome drawing style. It's probably still my favorite drawing style tied with Jim Lee's.

EDIT: Yeah it's off topic, as I said before if people are annoyed by it I don't mind quitting it, but nobody speaks up so far. And at least it's a positive chat, vs the arguing.:lol

In that case, I'll continue! Jim Lee draws the best Superman ever! Although a lot of people hated the story Superman for Tommorow (I really liked it until the last couple issues), everyone loves the art. I didn't like the way he drew Wonder Woman in the New 52 though. He's definitely one of my favorites, but I really love Jim Aparo's style. I want to say I like Dragon Ball more than Dragon Ball Z, except for the Boo Saga of course, but it's tough, because I love the art so much! Just that incredible imagination! And each time I watch it, I think Frieza having multiple form that each have a percentage of power to them is so stupid, but the designs are so good! Just like GT. Man it can be awful, but the art! That's got to be the reason why Janemba has a fan base. Heck, look at me with Broly. You know what I think I have to agree with you on Jim Lee now that I think about it. He's the only artist I ever did that for as well. Just tone down the make up and tone down the hair doo on your Wonder Woman!

Blood's awesome updated display picture made me take an updated picture of my Figuarts shelves

^^^This sentence right here shows the fundamental difference in our mindsets of collecting Silrian.

I don't have a "Figuarts shelf", I have a "DBZ" shelf, where I collect figures with the best likeness of my favorite characters from DBZ to enact a scene.

I have Figuarts SSj3 Goku facing off against Jakks Pacific Buu (he's acting as a stand in because their is no better buu available to replace him with). As you can see from that example, I'm seeking the characters, not the brand. And I display them together as long they look reasonably convincing together (for example, the Ultimate figures Gogeta doesn't blend well with the 'Figuarts' or 'Jakks' lines, so I pair them with the Bandai 'Ultimate Battle' line instead)

You see what I'm saying, we have a different rationale and goals in our collecting, and it affects what we find acceptable. My goal is to have the most articulated best looking DBZ figures I can get. I only get the figures from an official brand only because they look better and are more durable.

Most (if not all) of us had gripes with how badly SSj3 Goku turned out in terms of colors, paint apps, type of finished used.

Hypothetically, if a fake SSj3 existed that was better colored, better painted, with a matt finish, I wouldn't hesitate to get the best looking SSj3 Goku regardless of brand (even if the fake was more expensive, I would pay a 'little' more to get what looks the best to me, and better blends with the characters I have now...so long as it's not a $150 price difference lol)

I'm still a collector, I'm just not seeking the same goal you (and most collectors) are.

Oooooo you brought up SSJ3 Goku. I hope this doesn't start some crazy debate again, but I think a lot of people might change their views. And if that's a case, it would be hypocritical. I'm not saying anyone on here would, but I think many other "collectors".

Anyways, I think I'm with you Philosopher on the displaying thing, which is why I said I don't want Nappa. These are all incredible figures and I like the character, but I don't have space for it, when I'm doing things like this:

Right now I have no place for Frieza and Scouter Vegeta, which are awesome, but I don't want to be in that situation with a character like Nappa, because Scouter Vegeta is going to be paired up with Goku.

I just wanted to provide some clarification on my collecting habits, that's all. :)

I had an opportunity years ago to get SDCC Goku, but I didn't like his overly orange hair, and his gi and skin were too dark, so I skipped him, and instead got SDCC Gohan who was better balanced, then waited (prayed) for a re-issue of the original SSj Goku, and pre-order him once it was up.

And I don't know how I see myself as a collector. I never think of myself as one. I just wanted to get really good figures that represent something meaningful to me. I just cherry picked some of the new Marvel Legends Captain America figures, because I've been waiting for good representation of characters I really like. Although, I guess some think they're "crap from Target", but I like them and was happy purchasing them from Target.

I used to collect Marvel Legends, back when toybiz was behind it.

Once Hasbro took the reins, I got two figures from them (silver surfer, and She-Hulk) Then I dropped the line because the quality was too low. To me, some of the figures were disrespectful to name of the line and the characters they were trying to represent. I haven't gotten a single marvel figure since :(

I'm still waiting for a line of well detailed articulated 6in marvel figures that display well with toybiz Marvel Legends.

Yeah, I agree, but I don't think there's been a single good Captain America figure made, and this one was decent, except the paint apps are sloppy. I've seen people that had ones that looked good, so I'm going to return mine if I can get one, or completely hold out maybe for a figuarts one. Hopefully in his old costume, because my favorite Cap is of the late 70s/80s. I would love to get it in figuarts style along with a Batman to have a display with Goku, because they're my 3 favorite heroes. Well , Baron Zemo looks pretty good. Come on DC and Marvel contact the Figuarts guys! An Iron Man and Injustice Batman isn't enough! Man, I'm really getting off topic. Majin Vegeta! Boo Saga! Yeah!

I don't have a "Figuarts shelf". I have a "DBZ" shelf, where I collect figures with the best likeness of my favorite characters from DBZ to re-enact a scene.

^ This is precisely the same sentiment I share for my own collection! Although, this is applied to only a small portion of my collection. I have quite a large DBZ collection numbering somewhere in the low to mid hundreds, but hardly room enough to display them all. So, I had to be very selective with my choices for this display. I'm not entirely happy will all of my current posing. I do still change them quite regularly, as I am always considering the best use of each character. So they will most likely continue to change as I go. There are still a number of figures I'd like to add to this specific display, but for now I am content. I'll be sure to update the picture as new new figures are added. Enjoy!
