Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Awesome review Ryno! Loved all your poses and the details on the quality of the suit. Your display lighting really showed off the muscle definition and likeness of the sculpt. He's so bipolar! :lol

Belated Merry Christmas to you as well and to everyone on the board. Hope everyone got nice gifts.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

it seems to give him proportions closer to the proto type in my opinion

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

It helps the height but the boots look so small on him. Even the feet look smaller.

yeah but the reason i used his dads boots ,was they have the short regular pegs ,i couldnt find my pliers to swap the pegs so i had to swap the boots with the short pegs ,i think using supes boots and the short pegs would balance it out better ,i positioned the boots at the side to show the height difference ,but they are a little hard to see agaist the red of the cape , that and my poor photography skills lol

Libby1957dog,

How did you fix the knee that popped out.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

as the suit is connected to the ankle ,i gently stretched the fabric until i could replace the knee peg into the knee hole and just pushed it back in place that stretching of the suit when the knee popped out caused the stitches to break ,so i got a needle and carefully applied a small amount of super glue to the underside of the suit and pressed it together ,good as new ,but im not going to mess about with it again .i learned my lesson lol

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I hope the size of the MOS figures won't be the new standard size when you own so many figures allready.
Cavill is 6,1.Reeve was 6,4.
Not saying the Reeve figure should be taller, just that they at least are in the same size.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

It's definitely out of scale.
Not in a bad way. It will just look weird when displayed with other figures beside him. And the head can't be used for a lot of customs unless you have a massive body to go with it.
Looks not too bad on a TTM20, but that just shows how massive this headsculpt is!

There are loads of cheap deals if you want Reeve. And some even better deals if all you want is the figure loose($120 for him loose).
You just have to decide which one you want to start off with.

You know what i think happened?
They sculpted the Cavill head, and it was too small. They had it on a body that was too bloated for the proto and, before developing the body, they made the head bigger. But then they developed the body based on a head that was closer to 1/5 than 1/6.
I have seen this happen with old-school hand made model kit master patterns. One of the first parts made is slightly out of scale and they roll with it till eventually the entire thing is too bog, or too small.
I reckon it will just be this one figure that's slightly out.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

i hope your right Barry ,you still at work mate ,dont forget to have some fun ,by the way do you think the head play recasts will be slightly smaller ,im sure things shrink slightly when recast

Possibly. I have four on order and i have my fingers crossed for them being slightly smaller.
If not, i know a guy who works at a company with a 3d scanner.
I will just send them a HT sculpt, have it scanned and printed out slightly smaller.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

is that a expensive process ,it would be nice to have a quarter scale hot toys man of steel head for my neca quarter scale man of steel figure lol

To be honest, i have no idea.
I know a 3d print in max resolution wouldn't be too much more expensive than a loose HT Cavill head is right now. Time on the scanner might be an issue.
I am sure my friend would do me a favour on the scanning time if i said i'd take a couple of heads off him for the trouble.
The beauty of the process is that if you got it scanned, you could have it printed out in any size.
You could even have it made smaller for the movie masters figures, lol.
I am going to hang fire till i get my Modern Life sculpts back. They cost me the best part of $600, so i'll see how they turn out before getting the HT ones resized.
