Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

DC has already lost that war. When Marvel is already down to Antman, it's game over

No, it's not, because there is a great built-in demand for a DC shared universe on film. All DC has to do is make great films that set themselves apart from the Marvel Universe.

DC movies will have an audience, guaranteed. In fact, there is more overlap than not between the Marvel and DC audiences. Most comic fans, regardless of a Marvel or DC preference, will line up on opening night to see both MOS2 and Avengers 2. Marvel is just forcing WB/DC to pull out all of the stops in order to gain casual audiences' attention. Hence, Batman vs Superman. This has the potential to be the biggest film of 2015, even opening next to Star Wars VII, Avengers 2, Jurassic World and Pirates 5.

Don't go quoting me when you clearly missed the point of my post. Arrow isn't connected to the Smallville show, but Smallville both familiarized him, as a character, with audiences, and revitalized his popularity with certain fanbases. If you think that had absolutely nothing, whatsoever, to do with DC having enough faith in the character to give him his own show, I feel that you may be sorely mistaken.

That was sarcasm. :wink1:

It really seems like someone was literally sitting through Agents of SHIELD and when it was over, picked up the phone and said, "It worked. Announce Gotham." :lol

Lost?

Just make good movies. That is all DC needs to do.

Not something WB's been all too consistent with as far as Superhero movies are concerned.

Yep. The one thing that DC has that Marvel doesn't: icons. Unlike Iron Man or Thor, DC doesn't need to establish their characters for audiences. People know the Trinity, and there's at least a passing familiarity with the other Justice Leaguers (Thanks Daddy Day Care and The Big Bang Theory!:lol).

Wait, so you were agreeing with me? I must've been really tired last night to misinterpret that one.:lol I feel like the protagonist in one of those "I don't know how I got here or why" films after he realizes "how he got there and why." Well, then, with that being said, I apologize, sir.

Nah, I wouldn't go that far. I get what you're saying, but you missed the point of my post. I'm betting Gotham winds up directly connected to the new DC Cinematic Universe, something they've never done and clearly didn't think it would work until after Agents of SHIELD, just like they didn't think an interconnected cinematic universe would work until post Avengers. It's a shame the business who owns the oldest and best known heroes in the industry is playing catch-up because of an ignorant oversight.

AOS was ok but I'm not sure id watch just a show about Gordon and his struggles against villains where his hands are tied by bureaucracy.

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

I can't see any DC movies working until they get someone with talent writing them.

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

Matter of time....

Yup. once marvel showed them it could be done, and make buckets of moolah, OFCORSE they would change their minds.

But Nam is right. From the start of The marvel movie peictures, DC/Warner had said it would NEVER work, and they were very vocal about looking forward to seeing marvel pictures fail.

Oh come on- DC wiped Marvel all over the floor for many many years- Marvel couldn't get a single product out there even watchable until IRON MAN.
TDK trilogy was sort of successful, huh?

DC needs to start making good films and audiences will come ....

I don't remember DC ever saying it wouldn't work, they just didn't do it before.

Marvel ran the movie world with the Spider-Man and xmen franchises in the early 00s

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

Yea that to but you must admit that xmen and Spider-Man were the big ones during that time. Spider-Man pretty much set the bar high.
