I don't believe that this game was intended to compete with GTA V. They're both open world games where you get to drive around vehicles - but that's essentially where the similarities end.

Yeah, Saints Row started out as a GTA wannabe in a lot of ways, but it's carved out it's own niche now. Even moreso with this newest one and the addition of super powers.

I think the Saints Row series is doing **** that GTA should have years ago, especially character creation. Tommy Vercetti is the only character worth a damn.

I wonder if GTA V will have any sort of improved character creation. That's one of the main things that I loved about Saints Row. I made my main character look like The Hulk! :lol.

I think they are both great. Saints row is just silly fun but it only has 20% of the polish of GTA. The GTA worlds are so well crafted.

Liberty city in gta iv was so well made.

So, there's another new special edition.

For $1,000,000.

Now THAT'S a special edition. I wonder they'd do if someone handed over the cash.

So how's everyone enjoying Saints' Row IV?

I love it, but it lacks a little of the charm that Saints Row 3 had. The superpowers are a BLAST but really keep you away from enjoying the cars and the running and gunning that was in the third edition. This is really Saints Row 3.5 if anything. Though it is a GREAT game and really sets a tone for making super-powered open-world games.

Can't wait to see what they have in store for the Next-Gen games!!! :rock

I've only got 2 trophies left before I get the Platinum. I'm much more impressed with this game that I expected. It felt absolutely amazing to see so many references to the original Saints Row. I was in love with that game when it was first released and I knew it would be a good thing to be a fan of the series, whereas so many others I know shrugged the game off as a GTA clone.

Also, while I love Terry Crews, he didn't match the persona of Benjamin King. Though the tribute to Michael Clarke Duncan in the credits was extremely nice.

Overall ranking of the games for me:

Saints Row
Saints Row 2
Saints Row IV
Saints Row The Third

I doubt it will do as much damage as everyone seems to think, since most people who wanted this game that I know of already purchased it. Though GTA is probably why they released in August instead of another November release.

Besides, SR:IV sold over 1 million copies in it's first week which is good. The fact a PC edition was available from the start unlike many other games lately may have helped with that.

I just can't see anyone buying this game ever again after September 17. Although I guess most people bought this to kill time until GTA V, I almost did.

Out of the franchise, this one is most like Crackdown, or if you think of Saints Row on even more crack than before. If GTA V gets a similar reception to GTA IV, where everyone loves it at first but gets slowly annoyed with its realism then I see some people still buying it.

I do agree though. I'm glad I bought it in the end however, cos it was extremely fun to play with some amazing references placed throughout, and if I had waited until after GTA V I doubt I'd be too excited to play it. Even if I am a huge fan of the first two titles.

God I hope GTA V isn't anything like IV. I initially loved it, but became more apparent on how bad it was. Still sold a ton regardless.
