Re: The Man of Steel

I was expecting this to get some negative response and eventually settle around 75-80%, no way did I expect the difference to be so close to half and half. The vast majority of new reviews would need to be positive to bump up the rating significantly enough, but that is doubtful, even with approximately 150 more due in.

This won't stop me from seeing it, the trailers did a wonderful job at making me excited and looking forward to its release. Pop the trailer on again and boom, hope restored.

Re: The Man of Steel

It's an a'ight movie for what it is. It's just no BATMAN BEGINS, DARK KNIGHT, AVENGERS or SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE.

Re: The Man of Steel

What drives me nuts are the multiple reviews for the same publications. I don't care if they are three different critics, how many reviews of the same film does Salon.com ****ing need?

Re: The Man of Steel

Saw it tonight and loved it. I truly don't get where all the cynicism is coming from.

It definitely felt like a modern version of this iconic character... I don't feel it was morose or sad at all. In the end it was very hopeful and optimistic... but not overly saccharin.

I have a feeling that there's an even better director's cut out there... the thing moves at lightning speed and there are elements I definitely could have used more of.

I will admit the destruction is huge but these are meant to be gods battling on our soil... Superman is definitely set up to be the biggest and baddest superhero of them all and the scope fits somehow... I imagine there's a scene with Kal-el helping with the clean up somewhere out there.

And, yes, it does have one of the best final lines of a film ever.

Re: The Man of Steel

You guys keep forgetting that Iron Man 3 pleases film fans more then comic fans.

Most people who really love it (me) don't give two ****s about anything in those paper pages. And still don't.

So don't get all up in arms about it.

Re: The Man of Steel

60% now..still dropping...if this goes into the 50's I will no longer trust anything to do with RT. I can see that MOS has issues, and some people won't like it. But it's quality entertainment. Deserves at least mid to late 70's.:(

I cannot stand roten tomatoes. I never hear those old farts.

Re: The Man of Steel

Seeing this tomorrow morning the critics want this movie to fail is Zack Synder not really that well liked in Hollywood?

Re: The Man of Steel

I have not seen the movie yet so I cannot comment on it, but I have heard the soundtrack and I have to say that I really don't like it. Others claim to have heard a theme somewhere, I wish they would show where it was because all I hear is piano, and drums. Lots and lots of drums. The music reminded me of that SNL skit with Will Farrel. I can hear Zimmer right now, "if Snyder wants more drum, I say we give him more drum!"
Maybe after I watch the movie I'll have a different view of Zimmer's work, but for right now I am not liking what I am hearing.

:exactly:

I am hoping it fits while watching the movie.

Looks fine to me.

No. Because the first was unique, and interesting. This one looks dull and pointless.

I don't think it looks dull but yes, it is pointless.

But if the story is good I think it will be fine. Hard to tell where the story is in that trailer.
