other than a few cool looking characters, i really don't think the mainstream collectibles market liked this movie enough to support a collectibles line. plus the ending when the only way the little girl would see justice and acheive all that she wanted was in the afterlife illusion, once she was murdered. i personally HATED that ending and would never let a child see it for that reason.

what do you think? can pan's labyrinth support a collectibles line?

I would be interested in collectibles from this movie, especially of the Faun and Pale Man.

As for the ending I thought it was fantastic... who's to say if if is illusion or reality. I think the ending is up to interpretatation... but some of the other elements to me make this movie a hard sell for children.

YES BUT NOT BY SIDESHOW, THEY WONT PURSUE THE LICENCE.BUT I COULD SEE A COMPANY LIKE NECA DOING A COUPLE OF FIGURES IN THEIR CULT CLASIC LINE.

I think the Faun would be great to see as a 1/6 statue... I think his design is too complex for a 1/6 figure, unless of course HT decided to tackle. But I think he'd be too much of a gamble for that.

Pale Man GB! :D

Polystone statues of both those characters by SSC would rule, kinda like the one the they did for Del Toro's Devil's Backbone.

These collectibles would Bomb just like the Narnia ones.
You really have gone insane my friend. :D

Narnia was a Disney movie and 'cause of that they had high ES's and therefore were a failure.

Pan's Labyrinth was a very popular movie and only basically have two characters they could make collectibles for, well three if they'd make the fairies. The Faun and Pale Man with low ES would RULE!!

By the way the Devil's Backbone Santi with Bomb statue had an ES of 100 and is IMPOSSIBLE to find.

Thread rated.

I think you are right Rory (like that surprises you! :lol), but it is with sadness that I agree.

I would however suggest that a Pale Man or Faun PF in limited numbers would be rather interesting - but I don't see a huge appeal for much more than that.

Hasn't there already been a couple of threads about this?

The only thing that would be of any interest to me would be statues or PFs of the Pale Man and Faun. And not by NECA...I'm still disappointed about the V for Vendetta statue they made. :monkey2

Man, it's so funny how we can think so differently. I did not think about the ending like that at all.

I would let a child see anything they wanted to anyway though since I don't believe in censorship of any kind. The ending however, was not at all offensive to me and meant something drastically different to me. I stepped out of what was possible in reality and dove into the story....

I also think this collectible line would fail because while the movie was excellent it will never be a classic. People are lazy and they hate to read sub titles. I think they would be announced and people would be excited but by the time they made it out of production people would be like "man, I have to cancel this....too many other cool things coming out." :moon:arr

i always thought the movie would make you buy a collectible, not the collectible make you want to see the movie. did anyone truthfully see this movie before seeing the collectible? and have they seen the movie anyway? the collectible didn't make me want to see the movie when i first saw it about a year ago.

Whether you're talking about Devil's Backbone or Pan's Labyrinth, I did in fact see both before there was even any thought of collectibles.

i guess if we all had the same likes and dislikes, it would make it very easy for the movie and collectible makers of the world. :D

I think yes--- but of course you wouldn't let a child see it--- it was a fairy tale for ADULTS. It was never meant for children.

I think a FAUN PF (as I stated in the product request thread) would be spectacular and a surefire sellout.

G Del Toro said that NECA does have a license for Pan Collectibles, but didn't say WHAT. I would assume 7" figures.

i loved the movie! it is an experience that i am certain will have a lasting affect on children to push their imaginations! keeping this art from them makes little sense... don't underestimate them.
