I always find it amusing myself when people start arguments then keep trying to get in the last word by saying things like "let it go" and "Let's move on shall we?". You should write a handbook on how to internet troll. About the only thing you haven't done is compare someone to Hitler.

Hah, I'm not upset about anything. I just thought you were being a jerk and called you out on it. I didn't take it personally like you seem to think. You were being a jerk to everyone who's been active in this thread not me specifically.

I'm not even sure what you're referring to with the market share thing though. I mentioned I ran across an article about Mattel loosing Barbie market share severa pages back. Is that what you're talking about? Why would I be upset by that?

I'm suddenly very confused.

supposedly 9 people have cancelled their pre-orders

Total loss= $2,250 for Mattel

now how many pre-orders can be cancelled until Mattel says we don't have enough orders to put this in production?

I think there needs to be worry about that too because if things don't change by SDCC,we may not get this playset afterall

even if its 200 loud, vocal minority that cancel, that is $50,000 sales Lost for Mattel...add another 200,400 or 600 to that.

The whole thing is very odd to me. Any of my criticisms come from a place of not understanding what is going on rather than being upset. As I have said before I never wanted or needed the Castle, didn't PO it and won't be buying it now either. I just find the whole thing very interesting to discuss and try to puzzle out.

The chain of actions of Mattel's part just are weird and don't make sense to me.

1 - They need a certain number of pre-orders to allow even R&D to be done
2 - They make that number and make a prototype
3 - There's a lot of vocal unhappiness about the prototype
4 - They allow people to cancel (which I'm not saying they shouldn't it's just weird it's even a possible option for them give points 1 and 2)
5 - They also announce they're going to put it back up for preorder sale but at an increased price (this makes sense to allow for the other cancellations I guess?)
6 - They also announce at the same time they will be putting it up twice for additional orders at two different times and two different price points.

The last one really confuses me. They are still doing that right? Putting it back up for sale at $275 then again later at $300? So weird I can't think of anyone else who's done any thing like that, at least not in recent memory.

True, but if it's 200 out of 5,000 (we've no idea how many they made) that's not great but not neccessarily huge, especially if some people pick it up. I'm SURE there are still people holding out to see the final before they even decide to get it day-of. So if 200 people cancel their orders, there's nothing to say another 200 won't buy it. The day of sales are going to be very interesting on this sucker!

being able to cancel is shocking because what if half decided to cancel? Is Mattel willing to take that loss? or do they just think they will be able to sell the cancelled orders day of sale at a higher price?

I think they have enough confidence in the product they are producing (people may disagree, of course! :D) that they aren't too worried about it. Especially given the unique nature of it. I have seen a few people talking about canceling their 2nd or 3rd Grayskull (which I can't imagine ordering in the first place!) but not much in the way of people canceling their only Grayskull.

If there was some crazy uproar after SDCC and half the people cancel... it probably wouldn't matter. To us, anyway. The Castle would get made because it would be tooled by that point. The worst case scenario is Matty sitting on a bunch of Grayskulls they can't sell. But honestly the development of it would have to be catastrophic for something like that to happen. Even people who are grumbling about this or that about Grayskull are still going to get it because it's the only Grayskull Mattel is going to make.

like I said...SDCC production reveal will be the final test

Those who are so excited for this "flawless" Castle better hope there is not a flux of customers cancelling in July/Aug....because just enough cancelations could result in you not getting the Castle at all

I doubt it. They have too much money invested in this to not make some back. Any cancellations will just be up for sale on the website.

Though,Ram Man was a new tool that was under threat of not being produced if we didn't make the Subs goal....why wouldn't Castle Grayskull be? and with no monies down even..

the problem also lies if those who ordered 2 or 3 (like me) would be then forced to have to cancel all of them because of DR and by then, you won't be able to re-order at the 250 price..

I myself can't go any higher than $300 for this thing

I'm lucky. I ordered one. Then I thought about it and placed a second order for one later. I can cancel the second order without a problem. But again, I'm waiting for the full reveal before I make any decisions.

I'll be back in a couple of weeks... when things go back to normal... :peace

If I order today can I cancel anytime with no penalty later? The price hike is 15.00. So with shipping and taxes this should be around close to 400.00?

Anyone know when the Icon Heroes Castle Grayskull is supposed to be out? I know BBTS says "March," but I don't know if that should be trusted....

The price hike was $25 from the original pre-order price of $250. You pay nothing up front and you can cancel until August 30. With the $250 price I believe the final price quoted to me was $304 with taxes and shipping. However, this was before Mattel corrected the error that was upping the shipping prices, so the final price should be a little lower. So you might be looking at around $320 now if you're in the US.

It's still on track for late March/early April at the moment.

Thanks bro, so 275.00 is for the late buyers only or everyone even the early 250 PO's?. Any confirmations on box art?
