Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

i cant wait to see what they do but ill put $$ on the fact the bat cave comes with blake

You mean the Bat Box? I don't think it will. Hot Toys is a milker. The Blake figure will be on its own and then the Bat Box will either come with another Batman figure with empty cowl or just the empty cowl. Kinda like the Mark IV Gantry.

It would be so much easier if someone could just translate the these magazine scans

There's a guy on OSR on FB that did. It just says that more figures which I named a few posts back (Post #201) are going to be released in 2013 to the 1/6th DKR license.

Another Gordon and Blake just when you thought your collection was nearly finished. I guess we should have guess that they do the same the thing the are doing with the Avengers milking the cash cow.

So how many figures does the Avengers have as of now 10 figures. If they go back and release some of the older figures that who knows how many they will have here. The only drawback to this is newer licenses get pushed back in favor of this stuff then its a business make what sells.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

I wouldn't call doing a major character from the last film milking the cash cow.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

Iron Man. That is HT truly milking.

But since that was noticed people tend to bandy about that term when it's another character done they don't want, or simply their wallets can't take the strain.

If HT do all rumoured in this thread it will simply be a completed line, more or less.

IM is milking as we get a gazillion variants, exclusives and colour changes, rereleases of one character as opposed to additional character figures from the films.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

I guess in comparison to they used to do, costumed figures , this feels like milking, but hey they have to do it or someone else will. Its hard to justify $ 200 for a Colson figure even it is a nice overall figures perhaps if he was cheaper

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

I collect all the Marvel and DC HT. And I persoanlly hate the term MILKING when referring to a license.

CLEARLY, all the IM and Batman that are made, make them money. And its very possible, that a figure that sells very well and makes HT money, may help them make a less desireable character like a Blake or a Banner.

We probably could assume that they make more of any IM or Batman, than they did Gordon or Fury or Coulson or any other normal looking figure. Its a normal marketing model. Hasbro, Mattel and all the others do it too. We here are a small percentage of who buys HT. They have to be marketed for a wider fan base who may not care about getting a guy in a suit or a cop uniform.

Keep making as many Batmans and Iron Mans as you want HT. Especially if it gets me characters that you wouldn't normally make.

Of course, this is my opinion.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

The only time I would say that they're milking a line is when we get 2.0 versions of everything.

For something like The Dark Knight rises, we've gotten one batman, one catwoman, one bane and one Gordon.

Looking at the upcoming figures, I see another Gordon, a Blake, the Bat armory and a 1/12th scale bat.

There's clearly a lot of variety there.

Even with the Avengers, we're getting one figure of every character. While the line may include a lot of figures at least there's diversity there.

:goodpost:

I understand the frustration maybe at seeing another joker, or another IM figure, but then HT also takes chances.

We're getting an Ichabod Crane, we got a Sweeney Todd, the martians from mars attacks, we're getting BTTF too and Prometheus.

I say keep making what sells. It doesn't mean that we're not getting some variety.

I for one am psyced for Ichabod Crane and the Prometheus figures, but I'm also psyched for the extended TDKR line.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

I mostly agree. Except the DKR Batman is a variation of MMS71 and DX02. And I for one am glad they made it because I don't have the MMS71 or DX02.

But I also don't think that if HT make a 2.0 or a color variant, that takes away from the production of another character.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

Agreed. Except we haven't had a DKR Gordon.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

And I'm glad they are making a Blake. I hope it comes with a cop uniform and street clothes. I don't want to get a 2nd like I will with Gordon.

And the fact that they are making a 2nd Gordon and a Blake BEFORE Ra's, pretyy much convinces me that its a licensing issue. There is no other reason they haven't made 2 or 3 versions of Ra's by now.

I'm thinking Blake will be on his own as a figure, but "Batsignal" and "Gordon" are literally right next to each other in that release - no Chinese characters separating them. Does this mean they'll be released together (as it should be!)?

This was a fairly obvious move on the part of HT, and one that I applaud, because I really want Blake and Gordon in his iconic trenchcoat! Also, please remember: your collection is "finished" the moment you decide it is. If you don't want these characters, there is no law saying you have to buy them to have to complete your collection, right? :huh I've bypassed what I consider to be many superfluous IM variants, because I didn't want them, but other collectors love them, so there ya go.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

It is likely that Blake will be one of this year's toyfair exclusive...

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective John Blake ??

I'm loving Hot Toys releasing civilian figures, makes a refreshing change from costumed characters.
