Different personality, and Roadblock was never the leader in the comics. Flint and Lady Jaye will presumably be under his command here.

But just in terms of needing a big guy to portray Roadblock, I would say that Rock does the job on a visual level.

Of all the announced releases, only Roadblock at least looks the part. Visually, I have no issue with the Rock as Roadblock at all, making him the leader when both Flint and Lady Jaye are there, is the thing that's definitely not RAH.

The leather Storm Shadow is no surprise, but definitely not RAH.

And Joe Colton, not a traditional Joe RAH character but they're making him anyways because it's Bruce Willis. It personifies this license, Hot Toys doesn't give a s--- about GI Joe RAH, just cool looking characters and popular actors, very much the reason why most people are buying these.

I might've been interested in getting Colton, but it's old Willis, I wants young Willis from Die Hard so it's a pass.

Still, the fact that this gets multiple releases when the Expendables and Avatar only had one, and nothing from Prometheus is extremely frustrating.

All I hear is "WHAAAAA!" its not the snake eyes I grew up with. Well we are all not the same age. Some of us grew up at the launch with the pre swivel arm all black commando. Some uf us came a little late to the game and this was their first Snake Eyes. I don't see anyone asking for this? Or any of the other 35 variants of Snake Eyes that have been released.

Wow, so many Joe newbs in this thread.

This is a nice figure... but I have a feeling that this'll be one of those rare Hot Toys figures that will be easily available long after retail - and for less than MSRP, to boot.

Unless, I suppose, Retaliation turns out to be some kind of monster hit... but for some reason, I just don't think that's gonna be the case. As a GI Joe fan, though, I might pick it up once all the Hot Toys fanboys get buyer's remorse, and try to unload them via Ebay, or through a trade in my favour.

It personifies this license, Hot Toys doesn't give a s--- about GI Joe RAH, just cool looking characters and popular actors, very much the reason why most people are buying these.

SSC holds the rights to non-movie (i.e. RAH) Joes, and HT are their business partners so there's no reason for HT to make RAH Joes anyway.

I'll buy them all. It's a merging of my two favorite hobbies!

I'm primarily a GI JOE collector. I have nearly every figure, vehicle and playset ever made by Hasbro from 1982-1990.

I find it humorous that so many "true GI Joe fans/collectors" are condemning the "newbs" or those praising this figure. Shouldn't you be happy that more Joe merchandise is being released and this will add interest so that perhaps even more Joe stuff comes out?

And like I mentioned before... this IS Snake Eyes. This is completely true to the source material: the film. Not RAH.

So Sideshow releases more than one Snake Eyes figure, but Hot Toys makes one that is true to a film's version of Snake Eyes and you whine and complain?

Thats all I hear you guys doing... whining. It's a terrific looking figure. Is it modeled after RAH? Nope- but you can get the SSC one if you want one close to that. Want a GiJ:R figure? Get this one.

I never said you. I spoke in generalities about the hardcore RAH fans. Are they wrong? Absolutely not, feel free to complain about this figure. Won't sway my opinion... but to condemn and mock the ones who do like it and try to mock the "newbs" because they enjoy it is just absurd.

Well, being a hardcore ARAH and Sideshow Joe fan, I do see where folks are coming from. I meant that this section has been, to many, a kind of safe haven from Hot Toys discussions that frequently turn sour quickly. As such, there has been a different vibe here than you see in Marvel, DC, or Aliens/Robots. And seeing HT fans who are getting a Joe and thus creeping into this section bothers some for that reason.

I can completely understand your view point and I respect it- I honestly do.

However do you see my logic? Say this figure, along with Storm Shadow/Road Block/Colton, sells through the roof... thats good news for Joe fans.

But like I said, for the RAH purists to come in here and bash the fans of this figure is just absurd. Cap's uniform in TFA wasn't true to the source material, but I didn't see a lot of those fans bashing "newbs" for liking it.

For the record, I've owned 6 different SSC Joes and loved them, and also grew up on RAH. The simple fact that I don't post in the SSC Joe threads makes me a newb I suppose.

I do see your point though honestly, I don't think HT's sales of this line will affect SSC's sales of the comic line. I think the lines, and groups of collectors, are so different in general. If anything, maybe the movie's success would affect those sales by reminding collectors about that thing they were into as kids, but I don't imagine it will be all that successful (looking to be proven wrong).

A little OT, but HT "officially" announced that they are planning to make three other characters from Retailiation: Colton (Bruce Willis!), Roadblock (The Rock), and Storm Shadow (Byung-Hun Lee).

My chief complaint is this. GI Joe was a huge part of so many peoples childhood. Hollywood completely ignored the source material in hopes of cashing in on what ever crowd that abomination of a movie was suppose to draw.

Retaliation does look to be a better movie, and God I hope it is. It bothers me that people go bananas over this hot toys release, when the ssc line hasn't gotten much attention from some of the same people drooling over this.

I kid that the SSC line is dead. I pray that it isn't, if all we have left is hot toys figures from this yet to be seen ” partially rewritten” movie. I will be very sad.

For those who are truly excited about this figure. congrats.

I will always prefer my Joes Tatumless.
