Re: The Man of Steel

I'm surprised at the lack of Amy Adams in the trailer. Hopefully they show her more in the next one. After Cavill, she is my favorite casting.

The less they show her, the better the movie will do... And yet another ugly Lois. I miss Terry Hatcher and Erica Durrance!

Another proof it's a Nolan movie! He chooses uglies!

Amy Adams is great, from that brief moment she looks to be good as Lois.

I wonder if the Daily Planet will be a print newspaper or online newpaper. It should be the latter imo, it wouldn't matter much for the newsroom scenes

Re: The Man of Steel

I actually haven't been following this thread but just decided to just run with IJ's "naming names" issue for my own amusement. Just messing with you guys.

Amy Adams ****s could give a better performance than Terri Hatcher or Erica Durance. I rather have talent than looks any day. :lecture

Re: The Man of Steel

Funny you use Spielberg as an example, because for Poltergeist his official title is producer, but is was the defacto co-director and his fingerprints are all over it in that department.

Spielberg, one of the greatest directors of our Generation also Produced The Transformers movies :slap

Those were bad because Bay directed, they wouldn't have been as bad if Spielberg had more control over the films, but he obviously didn't

The filmaker who got all the credit for the dark knight trilogy wasn't the producer, it was the Director, so why should Man of Steel be any different?

Director > Producer, so Snyder is the main man here and he's using a script written by Goyer, those are the only credits that matter.

Re: The Man of Steel

Word is that Spielberg has actually the most "hands on" for the first TF film, which coincidentally is head and shoulders better than the latter two.

Directed by Christopher Nolan
Produced by Christopher Nolan
Screenplay by Christopher Nolan

Just stop talking now.... :lol

You have made some good points Nova, but I hate to say you are in error here...

As he is the one in charge of the money, he producer has the power to fire the director any time he wants. Look at all the hassles Francis Ford Coppola had whilst making THE GODFATHER I. He was under threat of being fired literally every day.

Re: The Man of Steel

DIRECTED BY ZACH SNYDER

SCREENPLAY BY DAVID GOYER

BASED ON A STORY BY DAVID GOYER & CHRISTOPHER NOLAN

Fixed

Your ignorance is only surpassed by the redundancy of your anti HT whingefests :lol

Umm... Actually, no. The creator of the story matters too. Nolan's not just producing. He helped come up with this story. He may not have written the script, but the story credit will end up going to him too. Jaws and Shawshank are both based on books. You're saying the author of the book doesn't matter despite them neither directing nor writing the script?

That said, Nolan's involvement is pretty minimal. If this is a success all around, the credit should go to Snyder, Goyer, Nolan, and everyone involved making it. If the movie sucks as a whole but the story premise is good, then the credit would go to Nolan and the blame to Snyder and Goyer.

Exactly

Based on a Story, big whoop, he didn't write the story Goyer did

For all you know Nolans Story could be simply "Superman comes to Earth and does some stuff"

I'll repeat... The filmaker who got all the credit for the dark knight trilogy wasn't the producer, it was the Director, so why should Man of Steel be any different?

No, I'll repeat:

Directed by Christopher Nolan
Produced by Christopher Nolan
Screenplay by Christopher Nolan
Story by Christopher Nolan

You should have just taken my advice and stopped talking then....

Shoulda heeded my advice :dunno

By the way, the fact Christopher Nolan is responsible for not just directing/producing as many high profile directors are, he's often associated with the story and screenplay. He's not just a director. He's a filmmaker. I don't consider "Insomnia" his film because he didn't write it. In the same way I won't consider "Man of Steel" his film because he didn't write the screenplay or direct it.
