Weird the regular is not even up yet, don't they usually go up at the same time?
It goes up the same time as the Ex. If you still haven't got it, then:

I think for those of us that have been collecting for some time now. Have good if not great intuition when a statue is going to be an instant classic. Of course this is always on the contingency that SC holds up on the QC. Can't tell you how many statues I've flipped or trade (at the higher value) to continue on with this hobby. I don't think I spent any money out of pocket all this year to buy a statue. That's 12 1/4 new statues with two of those being custom statues. I'm not buying extras to retire off of, but if I can use those extra ones to offset, trade or outright pay for statues. That's what's going to be done. If you have the means to collect like this why not? I'm not all into the thinking of leaving some for the newbies. I see it as paying your dues to get into this hobby. Most all of us paid our dues. Meaning we paid flipper price to acquire the pieces we missed when we weren't collecting in this statue hobby. No one felt sorry for us and sold that extra Doom PF for anything close resembling MSRP pricing. Like I have this extra Gambit Ex that's going t help me pay for the three DP's I have on order. I call it recycling other collectors money for the benefit of helping my collection grow.

Wait you ordered 3 Deadpool PF bro? All EXs?

Totally stupid newbie question here, but could someone explain what exactly "EX" means? I'm assuming it's some sort of exclusive but I don't see any options when purchasing this figure?

Are these PF statues made BY Sideshow, or made FOR Sideshow by someone else? I do see where it says that the "Sideshow Exclusive version" of this figure comes with the chicken. So my guess is that you can actually buy this elsewhere, but Sideshow is the only place that you get the chicken?

So does that mean that I'll be able to get this somewhere else without the chicken, but at a lower price?

Thanks for clearing it up. :)

Yes you can buy the reg version at a lot of online stores, most for a bit less 10% off and free shipping at most online stores. The ex is made only for SS which normally costs more than the reg versions.

From my understanding Sideshow produces the prototype and then they have factories elsewhere I believe outside the US paint it etc. EX means exclusive. You can purchase the regular edition from vendors at a lower price. They usually will offer 10-15%. So you were dead on.

i am curious what statue did you buy exactly this year that you flipped for so much $? only a few come to mind but they only went above $500 for a very short time before dropping back to that level. At $500 minus ebay fees = $450, you are hardly making $50 off it while doing all that extra work and risk...

The EX will sell out before the ES is announced. :lecture

Does that happen a lot??? Not to sound like an idiot, but that would seem to cut screw SSC out of some sales. Even if it is only an additional 100 statues SSC would be losing $35000. Just seems smarter to use the TBD period to project demand and then set the ES.

That's what they are doing. They used to set the ES beforehand. The whole point of the TBD is to project demand and then set the ES so they can produce as many as they can while still "limiting" them.

no actually it creates more sales for them, cause if you wait till the piece sells out and get on the WL at that time, ssc still wont announce the ES until for sometime after that. which means people on the fence for a certain piece will get their WL converted down the road and ssc already has them figured into their total ES.

anotherwards it what we call around here as the FAKE SELLOUT syndrome:lecture

Yes it happens a lot. Most of the pre orders I've been a part of recently have all sold out before the edition sizes were announced. These are exclusive pre orders I'm talking about. For the record Poison Ivy EX PF and Batman EX PF. Usually EX and reg edition sizes are announced at the same time but only the EX sells out before the edition sizes are announced for either because the EX is and will obviously always be more limited. As far as their marketing scheme I don't know. I'm simply speaking from a consumer point of view.

The hobby is clearly quite large now due to the influx of Marvel/DC movies floating around, I'm not really that surprised that it has TBD.

The thing with collecting I've found over the years is that a lot of collectibles come about as a combination of your own passion and blind luck.

Numbers don't matter. It's the demand.

I'd say Deadpool is in that rare sweet spot right now where he is still loved yet not over marketed to the every day punter. A good recipe for a collectible. :)

well put, and if or when the rumoured movie ever comes out, everything DP will be in demand.

This Deadpool PF will be that's for sure! But I don't need a movie made to know if I should pick this up or not! Don't really care if there's a huge demand for Deadpool. It's badass and I collect **** that's badass! :D

:exactly:

Deadpool's Badass 'cos he's Deadpool, he doesn't need a movie to to be cool.

But when/if a Deadpool movie comes along this will be in-demand from the fairweather fans.

That sweet spot is the best. It's not too obscure to get made but not to over-exposed like Iron Man to become boring.

Spider-Man Comiquette EX. $1185 eBay
Venom Comiquette EX. $750 eBay
Planet Hulk (Bowen) sold for $500 on ebay.
Iron Man 2 EX $1395 eBay

Paid $1310 retail plus tax for all these statues.
Sold for $3830...now that's collectibles working for the collection!

Those are all statues that I had an intuition on and purchases 2 or 3 of each over the years at retail prices and not a penny over. I have almost 25 years of collecting behind me and have accumulated tons of collectibles over that time. I'm one of those collectors that has figured out a way to make my collection some what work for me.
