Re: [iminime]/Rainman - Dr. Lecter

It's times like this that I wish I was more of a horror fan....this is just amazing.

It's not really horror brother, it's more drama/thriller. If you never saw it DEFINITELY check it out, its one for the books. And Red Dragon is awesome too. Hannibal on the other hand gets mixed reviews but I liked it.

Re: [iminime]/Rainman - Dr. Lecter

I also like Red Dragon quite a bit, and think it gets a bum rap. Is it a great film on the order of Silence of the Lambs? No. But it is good and effective, with an excellent performance from Ralph Fiennes.

Another good one is Manhunter, which was essentially also Red Dragon, but with William Peterson in Norton's role, and Brian Cox as "Lecktor." Very good movie. Gritty and disturbing. And a very different take on Lector from Hopkins, which was quite good in its own way.

Well Its only my theory now. Don't take my word for it, but what else could it be?:dunno

Threads just don't disappear for no apparent reason :monkey1
This theory has been substantiated with evidence.

Are you confirming?

Re: [iminime]/Rainman - Dr. Lecter

Axe said there was an issue similar to the previous issue with Showtime's serial killer. In the Showtime case, there was a cease and desist order. So. . .I can neither confirm nor deny, because this is all second hand information, but I am posting what I am because I know some of you were not online last night to see some of the other details before that thread was deleted.

Re: [iminime]/Rainman - Dr. Lecter

Hannibal was the weakest but the book was pretty great. They pussed out on the ending of the film and changed it from the book which was too bad because the books' ending was a lot more controversial. The film was cool in it;s own right though, I would love a Oldman as Verger figure.

It's lame that Foster opted out, I couldn't get into Moore as Starling.

I think Red Dragon was superb and very underrated. I prefer it to Manhunter which I also like but that's mostly just because Brian Cox is not half the Lecter Hopkins is.

Re: [iminime]/Rainman - Dr. Lecter

Red Dragon is by far my favourite book as well as movie of the Thomas Harris Lecter series.. didnt like Hannibal that much even in the novel, as the ending wasnt controversial IMO, rather it felt like he just ran out of steam and ideas, and wanted to do a Gabriel Garcia Marquez magic realism stunt and poof...

And I did like Cox in Manhunter... he seemed more like a professor/doctor obnoxious intellectual fellow, whereas Hopkins seemed more like a psycho and a menace than a so called doctor/professor. Both very different takes, but both are excellent takes.

I checked it out a few years ago, but yeah I guess the drama/thriller title does fit better. I did enjoy it a lot, and Hopkins is well deserving of the praise and iconic status his character achieved. It's hard to explain, but I just didn't like it the way I need to like something to want it in 1/6. I appreciate that it was masterfully done, it just didn't connect with me on that...necessary level. :lol

Got ya. I collect in the same fashion. I have to be a big enough fan of the piece for me to make the purchase. Problem is my taste is so eclectic and there is very little that I'm not a fan of. Yea great, that makes me a well balanced person :lol. But that also means I don't come across as many easy passes as most others do which sometimes knocks the snot out of my wallet.

I have a similar problem. I am very envious of a guy like IntotheVoid who only collects Nolan Bat-stuff. I've got a Batman shelf, a Marvel shelf, a Star Wars shelf, an Alien/Aliens shelf, a GI Joe shelf, a Predator shelf, several catch-all Hot Toys shelves (Superman, Sparrow, Platoon, etc.), a Rainman shelf, will probably soon have an Iminime shelf. . .

Wouldn't be so bad if I only collected 1/6 :thud:

Re: [iminime]/Rainman - Dr. Lecter

Sounds like we might be getting the Orange Jumpsuit/Straight Jacket option! :yess:

I'm really praying for both man

If it happens IDK what the sales structure will be but if it's a clothing set type thing, I'm cashing in on my first VIP sculpt to have two full figures.

I'm with ya bro. I'm hardcore into 1/6 but I collect prop replicas too. I casually collect Neca & Mezco 7" stuff plus a select few vinyl customs. I been wanting to get into screen used stuff but that's a whole different ball game on various levels.

Re: [iminime]/Rainman - Dr. Lecter

I really like every Lecter movie with Hopkins, but I definitely prefer him behind the glass. What appeals to me about him is the power he has while imprisoned, anyone can kill with a knife but to manipulate situations and people from a cage like he does is really something.

Re: [iminime]/Rainman - Dr. Lecter

Agreed. This is a powerful character, brilliant performance, and an epic movie that I consider a classic.

I'm beyond pumped that they chose to do Lecter. Can't wait to see more WIP pics :panic:

Cox played him closer to the book. His normalcy is what made him so creepy. Hopkins played a good psycho though. Manhunter is a much better film than Red Dragon. I don't acknowledge any of the others. I'll watch Manhunter and Silence and I'm set.

Wish Iminime would offer this version. Nothing screams Dr. Lector more than the Mask, Jacket and Gurney. But I doubt that they'll put forth an effort and do the gurney, mask, straight jacket.

Slick back blue jumper is cool though. The good thing about it is you can create a killer glass cell in a detolf!

Already have my loading toys toilet for use in my dio!
