Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I have no clue how ANY of you could look at this....

And think that HT is anywhere near accurate. The color of the whole vest is off, the pad plates color is completely wrong and the placement is wrong, the belt is wrong....how are some of you not seeing this? Plus not to mention the pants color, shape, design, padding placement are completely wrong as well. Besides the sculpt and jacket, the whole figure just looks cheap.

....and it has NOTHING to do with lighting. That vest is just crap.
The pads there look completely coated in yellow pollen material :lol Impossible to gauge correct color without it in that picture. But if you look at the very top left with no material covering the pads, it looks black.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

While there are definitely some inaccuracies, the biggest being the vest and color of the pants, I find most of the whining about this figure to be outright hysterical.

"This figure is boring."

I gurantee after seeing the film y'all won't be saying that. Bane is a bad mutha.

"The arms are too skinny. His forearms should be bigger."

Hardy isn't that beefy. Look again.

"He doesn't come with any accessories."

Excuse me? Bane's only weapons are his arms. He doesn't require an arsenal of automatic weapons. The broken cowl is pretty much all you need.

"He doesn't have his Bacne."

Seriously? Nitpicking a figure because it doesn't have pimples?

Hopefully they will fix the vest and get the color of the pants corrected. Aside from those glaring innacuracies I'd say this is one badass figure. Can'twait to have this.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

And Im actually okay with the body now. After looking at more pictures. I think the reason people think he looks to skinny is because Hardy is much more stalky and compact. The figure makes him look too tall. But that's not an issue. And the coat can be weathered to look better. But Im not giving up on this vest and pants.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I know what's throwing his headsculpt off for me... the mouth piece is sitting too low (at least the top section). It looks like it is crushing the bridge of his nose flat.

That part between his eyes should not be that low and at an even level with his eyes. It should be just above them.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

These two poses give the impression that he can be put in dynamic poses:

But look at the ankles. The feet are not able to go flat to that ground because of the lack of ankle articulation, meaning these poses are not possible.

If Hot Toys fixes one thing, it needs to be this. After seeing what they did with Superman and Batman '89, there is no excuse for ever making solid plastic molded boots ever again.

That's still not black. Its a dark brown faded into a tan. NOT black...

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

1) The coat looks too vinyl/pleather.
2) The ankles don't articulate. This is very very huge, and people should be talking about that more than anything. It destroys articulation/posing, and almost strictly relegated Bane to a 'waiting for the bus pose'. Not cool.

there could be articulation that the dude who posed it just isn't showing. At first glance of the HT FA Cap figure it looks like there's no articultion in the ankle, but turns out the boots are are pretty soft plastic which allows for ankle articultion. I'd wager it's the same for Bane

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Yeah, better if they do what they've done with the new Batman DX and make the foot and rest of the boot separate parts. Right? Right?

I got that feeling from the pics. I dont think they futzed him well at all. He's kind of in these awkward unrealistic poses.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

They could have made them like the Joker's shoes.

:lecture

the poses are weird not to mention the fact that non of the pics show him with the wrist/forearm guard :slap

Great now even the mask is off :lol

I hadn't noticed before but those are good points

Excellent! I'm so glad I kept that extra jar of pollen tucked away in my custom parts drawer. :yess:

The belts also need to be light olive green. Not brown.

Yeah, okay you're right.

But I've said it a million times. I'm not a stickler for screen accuracy. For me it's about two things:

1) Is the character instantly recognizable?
2) Does it look good in it's own right without side-by-side screen caps?

I say yes on both count for this figure.

The reason I don't like the ab armor on Batman DX12 is not that it's not screen accurate, it's because it makes the figure look boxy. There is nothing on this figure like that imo. It all looks well proportioned and I can't wait to have it on my shelf.

HT just needs to GIVE HIM ANKLE ARTICULATION.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

This figure means nothing to everybody, because the Bane character isn't in our minds yet, we don't know how cool he is in the movie, so I think you all gonna want this figure after the movie.. why? because there is no more high end Bane figures available anywhere!!!

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Havent had time to look at the rest of the comments but the gist of it is that most are underwhelmed.
The figure is a great representation of the screen character. The discrepancies are not severe compared to some other Hot Toys figures.
Just weather the coat and dye the pants and this figure will look sick!

I think people are underwhelmed because his appearance isnt as flamboyant as The Joker or other villains.
Its not surprising people may feel let down cause people felt the same to the actual character when they first released his image.
I had zero interest with the Joker before Dark Knight and now its my grail figure.
I think Bane will blow everyone away.
I think come Friday, this thread will be:
Wow!!! I cant wait to get this figure!
