Re: Grim Reaper The Dead LSF

Lol, nobody said you need a back story. We all know this is a depiction of the Grim Reaper.

But I find this back story extremely compelling because it's fact not fiction. And the statue is based on the sketch by a real traumatized, wounded soldier from WW1.
The sketch comes directly from him almost 100 years ago!

Read the story if you haven't. It really adds to the value of this statue to me. It's not just made up by a modern day artist.

You dont actually think its a real story do you?

I want this so bad, but family comes first, I could barely float a $400 price tag, but a $1000, a part of me has died today. I really can't afford this hobby anyway, It's a sickness I just can't step away from.

O what a world!

Wasn't this supposed to be a PF, What happened! Anyway, cool but too expensive, and big. Will have to pass unfortunately.

The back story is cool, but I also think it's writer fiction. Not unlike what they usually do with their dead releases.

Saw this last SDCC at the freaks party. Its huge, detailed, and will have a presence in your collection. The price half of what I expected it to based on what I saw nearly a year ago.

I just don't understand why Sideshow couldn't have kept this as a PF at $400 or $450 and make it more affordable AND more practical for more people. I mean the Vlad and Blackbeard are detailed and stunning pieces. This would have looked just as beautiful at 1/4 scale. This business of making bigger pieces and charging more is ridiculous, especially when it's just going to sit on a shelf and space is a premium, among other factors. Highly disappointed.

the truth is slightly larger size doesnt cost sideshow much additional $$ but it allow them the justification to charge much more $$. If they just released a ~20" it is expected to be in the 300-500 range, but if it's a 30" they can easily charge 2x or 3x. It's all about the mighty dollar.

Think about it the license cost is the same. Manufacturing wise a larger mold and a bit more paint/material & effort which is nothing in those makeshift chinese factory, only additional cost is higher shipping which is also passed onto the buyer.

But now the price is 2x or 3x, it's just pure profit for them.

True in the sense the soldier was traumatized in battle and this is a sketch from his mind.

I would like to hope this part of the story is true or do SideShow make this stuff up? I don't usually buy any unlicensed stuff.

Is it all complete BS?:chug

That would be a shame. I saw the Jack The Ripper piece and assumed that this also was based on something real.
