I'm sure they'll make another one but I bet it'll be another reset, that it'll ignore T4 and whatever plans lay therein. Its not any info I have per se.

I just wish they'd try a film about the original 2029 that Kyle Reese spoke about in T1, showing the future events that lead to the start of the time travel plot. Though James Cameron would be the only person I'd trust to do this justice and I doubt he'll go back to Terminator....unless Ridley Scott inspires him so with Prometheus....though that wouldn't happen anytime soon because of Avatar 2&3. But imagine Timothy Olyphant as Kyle Reese and Michael Fassbender as John Connor. My dream Terminator cast.

A 2029 theme would be great - something that needs to be explained with a little more detail. I can see Fassbender as John but I'll have to think about who I would like to play the character for a while and see what I come up with. James seems to be busy with other projects at the moment - he's quite the aquanaut!

Submariner at the moment! :lecture:monkey1

No, not at all, but I can't see them making part 5 without Christian Bale anyway.

Christian Bale did a great job on T-4, so I don't see why they would change actors if they're planning another movie.

If there is another movie... Last time I checked the license holders were in limbo but that might have changes lately. I hope so.

Where did you get that from? I think I read something about that a while back - but don't remember where I read it now.

I don't know how accurate the information is, but this is what Wikia says:

"Terminator 5 is the tentative name for the fifth installment of the Terminator movie franchise. Originally announced as a sequel to Terminator Salvation by McG to be released sometime in 2011, Halcyon Company was forced to declare bankruptcy and production was put on hiatus. The film has now been picked up by Megan Ellison and Annapurna Films and set to directed by Justin Lin for a 2013 release".

:dunno

"For a while it looked like Justin Lin was about to become involved with multiple blockbuster franchises, seeing how he was set to helm not only Fast and Furious 6, but also Summit’s Highlander reboot and Terminator 5 – not to mention, he was among the filmmakers previously shortlisted as potentials to direct Die Hard 5.

Lin ultimately passed on the fifth Die Hard, left Highlander (which now has a new director), and is pressing ahead full force with the sixth installment in the Fast and the Furious series. However, that move has also forced him to abandon his Terminator duties… for the time being."

Cheers for that. :duff It looks like the project is dead for now...

Terminator 5 might currently be without a director, but encouragingly, James Cameron is still taking an interest in the project, having revealed the advice he gave Arnold Schwarzenegger about returning to the franchise.

"I was talking to him back in fall about a new Terminator film and quietly advising on that," says Cameron. "I was trying to be as encouraging as possible. Frankly, at that time, I thought it needed to be more about him."

"I told him he should not do it until it's focused on his character," he continues. "I think there are some great stories that can be told about that character that haven't even been thought of yet."

The new Terminator film was initially set to be directed by Fast Five director Justin Lin, who had previously spoken to Cameron about a number of potential plot ideas. However, Lin has since left the project to take on the next Fast And Furious film, leaving the director's chair vacant.

At present, the film's status remains somewhat up in the air, although if it is to go ahead, it sounds likely that the spotlight will fall on Schwarzenegger once again. And if there must be another Terminator film at all, that can only be a good thing.
