Was really surprised by how much I liked the finale - they finally seemed to kick off the "family-friendly" PG shackles that have been keeping this thing a snoozer since the after the pilot episode. People died, dinosaurs could eat people (gasp!), some creative action, heck - the characters even showed modest signs of a sex drive for once!

That said, if it doesn't come back, I'm satisfied with this as a conclusion to the story. I'm not intrigued enough by the reveal of the ship piece to care about the 'why' of it all. They should have been scattering in stuff like this that 'just doesn't belong' all season to build up to some more compelling sci-fi idea (preferably, something to do with the nature of their time travel - alternate universe?). What we've seen so far is just to 'surface-level' - the bad guys are doing it all for money - nothing goes deeper. Really a missed opportunity all around.

Regarding Taylor, I don't think they were trying to portray him as "changed". IMO he was pretty caring throughout the series. So when he finally came to the realization that his son was blaming himself for his mother's death (rather than blaming the father) then I can understand why he would embrace his son.

Of course the audience knew what would happen after that. Doesn't change the fact that it needed to happen in order for Lucas to still be a villian.

As for the dinosaur being shot, worked enough for me to solidify the rich boy's douchiness. Until mentioned here I didn't give the distance or power of the rifle a second thought. It wasn't egregiously ridiculous for a sci-fi show.

I agree with what your saying and I try and let alot of things go but what I don't like is when it contradicts itself. For example, I wouldn't have an issue with the headshot as it could be explained as just future weapontry but the first episode shows their military rifles cannot kill using full auto from ten feet away. They couldn't even kill using what looked like a 50 cal machine gun.

That being said, it has been getting better and there are alot of shows that I love that in my opinion had horrible first seasons. (Babalon 5, Star Trek TGN)

I read this was officially canceled. I know many didn't like it and that's fine, but I'm done giving Fox the time of day with their programming. Not over this show, but over the fact that pretty much ANYTHING that isn't a stupid Sunday night cartoon gets 1 or at most 2 seasons, never gets any sort or wrap up conclusion to the story and gets replaced by some lame reality show.

I heard it was cancelled by Fox but it is being shopped around. I'd be very surprised if SyFy doesn't pick it up. My wife loves this show.

I hated this show so damn much..but the season finale really showed that it could be much better... Was kinda hoping to see what happened.

This always looked like a Syfy original series.

My thoughts exactly. Which is why it amazes me that the show was so damn expensive to make. Where the hell did all that money go?

Advertising, that's where.

Yep, the series dicked around too much and when they finally had a decent episode it was too little too late. Although even with the end of season plot movement the family focus was still weak so no big loss.
