Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

Hot Toys needs to realize that the reason their figures became so popular was the secondary market, which they are now destroying. This can be good and bad, might mean they have to drop their prices in the future when the flippers leave the hobby, and its good for those of us that didn't buy the original release, but bad for those who thought they were buying a limited edition figure (which is totally meaningless unless its a numbered edition like sideshow does!).

The figures are popular because they're well made. Probably the main reason they're re-releasing this is to try and just make more money off of something that was very expensive to develop the first time around--it's possible that the development was so expensive that they didn't make any money the first time around.

And while these are technically limited edition, we never know numbers so there's no way to know how limited.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I think i'm going to wait for the 10th rerelease of a figure because we all know the 10th release will definately be better than the 9th, right?

I'm going to wait for so long that i'll just die and have not owned and enjoyed anything at all in my life.

Is that really living?

Dude, you gotta wait for the 11th release. :slap:lol

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I think the problem is even for us that don't flip, we like knowing the value of our figures is more than we payed just incase we need to sell them at some point.

That's a very, very dangerous gamble you are taking there. These are toys, and like most things in life they are rarely worth more in the long term. If you buy toys as an investment in your financial future, you do it at your own risk. Buy the toy because you enjoy it, not because you want to make money on it when you sell it. In 30-50 years time I doubt many people will give a crap about TDK and the tumbler.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

While it does feel good to own a limited collector's item, I really am not hung up on that. As a fellow collector, I always hope that everyone can get the stuff that they want, and if the demand is there they should just make more if they know they will turn a profit; however, flippers buy it all up and then jack up the price to epic levels. The secondary market is nuts, but that is the penalty for not getting it early. You pay more later. Just feel bad for those that pay inflated secondary market prices and then find later that it is officially being re-leased at MSRP. :(

That said, with all of these re-releases, I have my fingers X'ed for another go at Blade before I finally pull the trigger on one off of eBay. We might not see him again though unless they make another movie and the public attention is back on him to justify making more.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I agree with u as what u had said. Buy it at your interest but not as a investment. Relaunch is good for those who had missed it but bad for those who fork out 2k from their pocket to get hold of it. :slap

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

Tumblers are already starting to pop up on ebay .

ebay buyers are sometimes idiots , they have no clue whats being re-released .

The listing for Predators is ridiculous with the announcement of the re-releases

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

Total for me was $465 from Alter Ego Comics and they package it very well.

Yup, idiots. That's why they need to become SS Freaks so they can stay in the know. We will drop the knowledge on them :lecture

:exactly:
Look at the comic market a few years back my batman comics were like paper gold now with eBay and the digital comics and the trillion reprints in graphic novel form yould struggle to sell.

Buy because you want to. Nuff said

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I'm pretty pumped about this since I missed out on the first release.

Not sure if this was posted, seems like HT really want's to stick it to the scalpers (good for them). Looks like an improved MMS figure. Scan from MILK magazine.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

At this price I had to preorder. Damn. Now to find the offing space.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

not sure if this was posted few pages back but there was a scan posted on fbk yesterday that mentions the Camo tumbler, Batwing, and DX02!

Seems most are ordering without knowing if they have space for it or not.

In some cases, guys'll be paying for the worlds most expensive brown shipper box to be kept in a corner. :lol
