Well, as a collector I only have one great fear, and that is the fear of price drops on my figures. At first I was a happy collector buying my sideshow star wars figures, and then I moved onto hot toys. THis decision was due in part to my love of superheroes and their movies, and the amazing quality of HT figures. Now that I look at ebay's completed listings, my Sideshow star wars figures are worth almost nothing, and I am just afraid that the same thing may happen to my precious HT figures.

Sell them all when you can? Then invest in USA bonds <--- freaking good investment ....

I think the reason SS's Star Wars figures are worth less is because of A) The Edition sizes being large and known B) The quality on some of the older pieces are getting put to shame by Hot Toys

Most of the SS pieces held their own for a long time and only a few are worth more than their original price tag now...

Yeah but I don't want to have like 10 HT figs and then wake up to find "Oh.. my thousands of dollars just got flushed down the toilet with poo on top of it."

I dunno know about you but I buy my figures to keep them, not resell them later on. Stop worrying about the dollar amount and just enjoy them for what they are.

Lets be honest with ourselves here for a moment. DO any of you think that your HT figures will ever drop below the retail price, in the future?

With HT figures, they probably will always be worth at least retail, so you can pretty much get all your money back if you decide to quit(as long as you didn't pay scalpers' fees). That's like.. years of free entertainment that you can cash back anytime.. :monkey1

I don't really worry too much about value dropping, only thing that can stress me out is thinking that there can always be some idiot in my building starting a fire over something stupid, and that I'll have to pay for someone else's stupidity :thud:

I have 25 Hot Toys figures and all of them are opened and in my display case. I would say 50% increased in value slightly, 25% dropped in value slightly and 25% greatly increased in value.

It really depends what lines the figure are from and if you open them or not. I would say if you keep the figure MISB then it's value will remain the same even if its from an obscure/unpopular line. Worst case scenario is if you have an opened figure from an obscure/unpopular line or if the figure has been replaced by a much better figure, then at worst you be taking a 50% hit.

Worse case scenario is when you leave your rubber suited figure (Batman) MSIB thinking it'll be a mint one day and then a year later did that the rubber suit had deteriorated/starting to melt while in the box and has fused itself to the plastic insert thereby rendering the figure worthless... :p
Moral of the story, take your stuff out and enjoy it.. Don't worry about price drops.. Anything can happen in a few years, who knows , Like HT did to older SS figures, another company may come along and do the same to HT one day..

The only thing i'm not happy about is when you need to sell something (thankfully rare in my case) and you get less than you paid.

EG. I got about the same/less for the Mars Attacks Solider BNIB.

With the Oil Problems on the Comedian, there will likely be less interest on that even though mine is clear of problems.

I feel sorry for anyone whose joy and pleasure in collecting toys is marred by concern about their monetary value :dunno

Sometimes I fear this, but my biggest fear is that the price on my figures drop when they remake certain figures and then I end up having to sell the first version and get the new one. Its not so much the fact that they make them, I think in some ways its good so that they can improve figures, but its just a hassle to get rid of the old figure and get the new version. Sometimes its hard to get my money back because of this. But like others have said, ive learned to just be happy with the figures and not worry about how much they are worth if i sell them

Sideshow 1/6 stuff holds its value for about 10 minutes after it ships.

Like a new car, once its off the lot it aint worth crap :lol

I wouldn't worry about price drops.
Worry about your $200-300 toys rotting or leaking within a few years of purchase.

Just plan on losing the money when you buy any figure, it'll make that feeling go away. Anyways I collect cause I enjoy it, not to make profit like flippers on eBay (damn you!), although I wouldn't mind an increase in value!
