Holy SMOKES! THAT'S HIM! THAT'S CHRISTOPHER REEVE RIGHT THERE!

I wish I hadn't see this. I was satisfied with the headsculpt before this picture came along.

It surprises me that HT can't pull off something like that.

i too wish I hadn't see this. the new one is so good :(

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

I dunno why this guy is priced more than the spiderman. Each come with a display, crappy suit and a few hands.:dunno might have to get this guy tho not because its reeves superman but just because its superman.

As interesting as it is to see a good PS'd image that describes nicely what the author thinks are the shortcomings of the sculpt - as opposed to mindless numbnuts who post 'the scupt is off' ad infinitum - it's really pointless to take a portrait that is so close to perfection as this, and feel bummed because all of a sudden you see a digitally-altered image that looks spot-on from one particular angle.

IMO if the PS'd images would be more useful if they assessed the sculpt from every angle. A single 2D image is not enough to dint my satisfaction with this sculpt.

Spidey doesn't come with a head sculpt - and who knows how much licensing and donations had to do with the MSRP?

Spiderman doesn't require likeness rights. (Toby Maguire)

Crappy suit?

Dino said this on facebook that they have to pay for DC, Warner Bros and Christopher Reeve's likeness and the fact it's SUPERMAN so the price is going to be higher. Spider-man has no Toby Maguire and they just have to pay sony pictures (maybe columbia I'm not sure) so the prices are lower.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

The pic on the left is an actual sculpt and the other something done on a computer. Sure he improved the likeness but he didn't create much. For all we know there are bits of an actual Reeve photo in there too. Point being what of that photoshop makes it any bit realistic to sculpt?

You're right he created nothing and it's good that you pointed that out because I'd guess this figure has attracted a few folk who wouldn't normally be interested in such stuff.
What he has done though is demonstrate just how far out this apparently perfect sculpt actually is. Let's hope the Hot Toys people are reading this.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

A little late to the party but man this figure is just amazing. Got it on preorder and Christmas can't get here fast enough in my book.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

SnakeDoctor - Thanks for putting up that PS from capedwonder. The manipulation showed which features needed tweaking to get a closer likeness.

I'm still getting two and I don't have any regrets if HT doesn't change a thing once released.

Knowing HT's penchant for pushing boundaries, they'll apply any changes to the next sculpt.

Also, to say that Arnie Kim would be sick and tired of all the crits to his work is a little demeaning. Any artist worth his grain in salt would accept any valid concerns or comments to his work. This guy did not become this good at capturing likenesses by thinking everything he does is perfect already. I am willing to bet that he's the type of guy who uses comments like these to get to the next level and always striving to go better.

For every valid crit he reads there must be a gazillion numbnut crits to go along with it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

I so can't wait to hear this line in next years Superman movie:

"THIS...IS...KRYPT..ON!"

Then SLAM with his red boot! :rock

Does that mean he should ignore the valid crits? Because there are plenty. It's growing on this board and elsewhere as far as I can see the verdict is that it's a beautiful but far from perfect figure.
I just do not understand why a few people here are so hostile to perfectly valid constructive criticism.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Awesome figure, just awesome. Cant wait for this one. And to be honest I didnt want it until I looked at the pics. This to me is a must have and will be a grail later on down the road.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

I'm perfectly happy with it now.As long as it's out by Christmas, I don't care what they do.

Did I say or even imply that? Nope. Your inference entirely.

To be honest, I think it's gotten to a point where the "valid crits" think they're entitled to perfection. Frank truth, they're not. Arnie is a human being, and a talented one at that. He isn't God, he can't create perfection just because some nerdy fanboy who thinks $209 should buy him the Mini-Me to Christopher Reeve's Dr.Evil. Frankly though, I'm just sick and tired of all the _____ing, it seems like most of you, in your quest for perfection, have forgotten just why we collect. We collect because these are the things that we enjoy, and yet, in an ironic turn of events, most of you have taken the enjoyment out of collecting.
