Need tips on purchasing Sideshow Mark 3 Bust!!!

Going to look at a Sideshow Life Sized Mark III Bust today from a local seller. $750 cash. He said it was from the first run but in great condition.

Got a few questions...

I've read awhile back on the faults and paint chips from the first run. Is it worth getting and was the second run and reissues a lot better than the first?

What should I look out for and what should I inspect so I don't get screwed over?

Is the Battle Damaged one from Sideshow better or should I try to achieve the original? Always thought the original looked more iconic.

Any other tips and comments about the purchase from owners or previous owners of the first and second run would be greatly appreciated. Help me out guys. $750 is a big decision but I want this bust so bad.

Well i just got my mark III through sideshow about 3 months ago or so and i inspect it on a weekly basis, Paint is Awesome since i polished it up when i got it, since then no issues in fading or flaking....but like i said i got mine through sideshow and when i called to ask about it they said they worked all the paint issues out, so i went ahead with the order..... i can only assume its not from the first run.

For 750 bucks, i would go through sideshow cause it will cost the same thing to get it from them and you have the added insurance if something goes wrong, since your in New york shipping will only cost 25 bucks i assume cause thats what it cost to ship to me and im in Canada

I love mine and have no paint issues or any of the reported problems. The advantage you have is that you can inspect it if it's a local seller. Power1010 what did you polish it with ?

Aren't they sold out? and just out of curiosity... it the production run is supposed to be 1500 and they have an issue with the paint like this... do they make more to replace the messed up ones and then repaint the ones they got back and sell them too making there actually be more than 1500...

and did that make any sense?

The ones with paint problems probably ended up as a BD bust. "Hey it's chipped or scratched, let's make it BD and resell it"

Not true. the BD ones are different.


I have both and the BD ones weighs 12kg.


The clean one only weighs 10kg.

The eyes on the clean is also a cooler white while the BD ones are slightly warmer.

OK I got it. Guy said he got it on the first run and I gotta tell you this piece is better than all of the MK3 busts I've seen up to date. That's including the one they had up for display at the Iron Man Expo in Hong Kong. The lines were painted with skill and no chips, smudges or any faults that I can see.

And yea I thought the original run was sold out. Did you get your waitlist converted or something POWER? I doubt I have the patience to wait for it to ever happen. Been on the waitlist for that piece for months.

nope, heard nothing and nope won't buy it. but i'd gaurantee that ssc won't be having such a huge ES as the last version.
