Today, I sat for my first zen meditation. Actually my first meditation of any type. It was surprising that I could almost stay still for the entire thirty minutes.

Anyone else Zen? :D

I have too active of a mind for meditation. I wish I could do it. It might help me with my stress.

Oh, I believe it would. Actually having only practiced twice and gone in to the Zen Center for the first "real" meditation today, I can feel myself anticipating my next opportunity to do so again. Monday can't come soon enough. The only problem is that they start at 6 AM, and are about twenty minutes from my house. This is totally changing my routine, and for the better.

One year later...

Sat in the monastery at our head center in Providence, R.I., sat four other intensive weekend retreats, make most Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings for a half hour of sitting (and that's 6 AM!)...

I think I'm in for good... :D

Pretty cool fury! Didn't know Providence had anything like that.

Well, to be honest, it's up in Cumberland. All I know is it took about 45 minutes to get back to the airport for the trip home. But you certainly live in some beautiful country up there. The minute I stepped off the bus in downtown Providence, I thought I should be living there. Then the sky opened up and I was drenched in no time.

:lol

I was gonna say. :lol

I know where that Monastery is in Cumberland. It's a nice area of northern Rhode Island. Glad you had a good time during the visit!

Just noticed the count on Yes went up by two to three. As I was the only Yes answer for an entire year, who may I ask is actually sitting Zen?

Anyway, shameless plug time. Fundraiser below. If you can, lend a hand and float me some funds for the Center. If this is against the rules of the forum, please remove my post, but otherwise:

I used to do this when I was a teenager and in Karate and all that BS...

Nowadays I just like to crack a beer, turn on some hockey and turn up my guitar extra loud... Zen of an adult :lol:rock
