I think that the local Wally World (Wal-Mart) starts putting out the new DVDs at midnight. I'll be over that way around that time and I'm definitely checking it out! (I missed it in the theater :slap)

Well Just was able to watch the film for the 1st time last night! :D

AWESOME FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clap

Hats off to Rick Baker, And all who worked on the Special FX for this film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rock :bow :clap

At long last! A remake that I truly love! :rock

Perfect casting and I love the twist to the story, Great writing IMO. :D

The classic will always be my #1 choice but this ones not bad, Not bad at all! :D

10 for 10 well 9.5 Should have been done in Black and White goodness! :D

UNIVERSAL IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I'm glad you liked it, Nick!

I only wish I could love it as much, but the over-the-top gore cheapens the experience for me. It just feels like they are pandering to the lowest common denominator, rather than going for an intelligent, character-driven story. I know some disagree, but that doesn't change my opinion.

Of course, I still bought the Blu-ray, being the OCD Wolf Man freak that I am :D.

Yes I have to agree, The Gore was not needed.

No Black and White Edition of the film? Universal, Now that hurts.:monkey2

I feel that B&W is the only thing this package is missing (if you like the movie, that is).

It's as though they all got together and made this classic retelling of the Universal Wolfman.....just for me. :thud: A fast paced, fun monster movie that you root for the hero/monster and the other characters as well. As long as I own this film I am happy, let the rest of the world saddle up and move along. Bought the Best Buy exclusive DVD set on day one.

Nah. The gore was totally needed. I dont know why I have to say this. We live in a different time. To show how EVIL someone is, you have to do something that no one else has done. Hold a girl hostage? Zzzz...boring. Seen it all before.

Holding a gun to a kid? Pfft, please.

Now dosing a little girl with gasoline, lighting her on fire, and then kicking her into a gasoline tanker, and pushing that into a preschool...now that's one evil mother ____er. That's someone i'd fear. :D

Being spooky aint gonna work now. You have to have some balls.

Now this movie, it had balls. But it lacked any reason for me to give a ____ about any of the characters. I wanted it to end. Talbot was a poor character. We knew too little about him to care. In fact, the only character I felt anything for was Hopkins' character. He was interesting.

I mean, they could've done the character driven story, with the gore. That's not impossible. The gore only shows how menacing this Wolfman is. I didnt think it was too over the top. I actually wished they pushed it further.

The problem with the flick was, there was zero character in it, a very poor story, and a very weak and anti climatic ending. I still dont quite understand the point of Hugo Weaving's character. He was there, but didnt do a single thing. He just kinda...moved around, drank tea, and bearly chased Talbot.

I could not, for the life of me, care about these characters. I think they could've done the film way better. It looked nice though, and there was a few AMAZING scenes in it. It just...gave me no reason to care.

I'll check out the DC if it's worth while. If not..meh.

Has anyone here had any audio issues with the bluray? Mine scrambles into this shrill sound at the 90 minute mark, and lasts for a few minutes. Some folks on the Amazon page for this movie had the same problem.

The alternate endings:

Spoiler Spoiler:

What's the difference between theatrical and unrated?

I couldn't get the unrated version to work on my computer.

I wasn't too crazy about this, but I thought it was a decent modern retelling. The original is very linear and I guess they struggled with what to do with it. I personally would've liked more gypsys. Think drag me to hell and wolfman. Gore was awesome. Fight at the end was a bit cheesy. didn't care for the weird almost sister-in-law love story.

Loved the mental hospital montage scene, though. That ____ was killer.

Just a tip for eveyone, I hear the Blu-ray has issues when played on the PS3 and that the D copy does not work on a Mac. I do not know for sure.

The alternate endings:

Spoiler Spoiler:

I gotta disagree with you about their being lame. it shocked the crap outta me when the one ending was going to be him mauling her like a pit bull and then standing up and baying at the moon. I wish they had went with that ending. This was not my classic Wolfman by any stretch....so the ending should have been the more vicious one. It would have worked better.

There is a lot of difference in the director's cut...including much more gore and a scene with MAX VON SYDOW that was entirely cut from the theatrical release. In it we see exactly how Talbot gets his unusual walking stick.
