Non-ape related, but it's still Roddy. Isn't he so handsome?

I would drill it out for you but I don't know my figures...so I will leave that up to you. I'm just going to clean out the bottom and get rid of the excess air tubes with my dremel.

I appreciate that but I'll be trying to drill all the heads at once. Its just so much more on an ape than the humans. Tax refund is forthcoming so you and Angel better start getting those heads and statues ready!! :D

I watched that "Tribute to John Chambers" video and ended up doing a Roddy-based Google/Wiki/IMDB search before work yesterday. Damn, I wish that guy were still alive. He was class. Genuine class. It was heartening to read all the kind things people had to say about him. Getting back into all this Apes stuff has made me realize what a huge impact Roddy McDowall had on my childhood!

Me too. I used to scan the TV guide looking for any guest appearances he would make on any given TV series. A Love Boat episode here... a Fantasy Island episode there. I seem to remember that he was on TV quite a bit back then. And taking a peek at his filmography on the IMDB, it is amazing to see the mountain of appearances he logged on TV in his career... alot of voice over work in the later part of his career. Gee... he even guest starred on Supertrain! Not many people can claim such an honor. :D

Anyway, Roddy is the only reason I watch the POTA TV show still. He really seemed to genuinely enjoy playing Galen.

You know that is funny. I never thought about it before but when I was a kid, I would watch anything that had Roddy in it just because of his contribution to the Planet of the Apes movies and TV series!

Even if the material wasn't so great, you know Roddy would give it his all and raise it to another level. He was charming as hell in Fright Night and that movie was otherwise mediocre. I know you've all read or watched interviews where he discussed playing Cornelius, Caesar and Galen and how much thought he put into the portrayals. I'd never really considered them more than variations on a theme, but he saw them as distinct individuals and as I got older, I could appreciate his portrayals all the more.

I mean, he's good even in Battle! He's not phoning it in there, and he had every reason to at that point.

He was on an episode of Columbo they aired back in December or November here in Japan. And I always get a kick out of his small role in The Longest Day. He has a short little monologue there he invests with a bittersweet wistfulness that's played just lightly enough. He makes the most out of about 2 minutes screen time!

I remember getting really excited seeing Roddy on The Carol Burnett Show and in The Night Gallery!

Have you guys gone to Alex's Potacollective.com site? I can't remember if the Carol Burnett show is there with Roddy, but most probably it is.

If you guys have never ordered a raw set of ape appliances from Apemania, I highly suggest you do so. I just received my Zira appliance and it's just frickin' fantastic again, as always. The smell of that foam latex hitting your olfactory senses is just so indescribably freakishly exciting...

Wow...so the hairpieces (human hair hand-tied on lace) is slowly arriving. The first batch came today. EXCITING to see it in person! I will definitely need to augment these pieces by incorporating additional hair with a very tiny crochet hook. Easier said than done.

I recently checked out the restored long version of Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Apparrently, much of Roddy's performance was left on the cutting room floor until now. check it out!

He and Carol Burnett were very close, if I remember correctly. Didn't he appear in ape makeup on her show?

Speaking of which, I also seem to remember that Paul WIlliams appeared in ape makeup to sing a sond on some show. Does anybody else remember this?

I think the POTA collective site has a clip of this on his site.

It has always amazed me how Roddy played Cornelius, Caesar, and Galen yet each one was different from each other. It takes an amazing actor to play 3 different individuals and have each one have their own different feel. He played all 3 very differently.

If I only had the extra cash, I'd be "pushing the foam" right along with you. :monkey2:monkey2:monkey2

I remember feeling that way when I first opened the 1;6 Jabba. The fumes were nearly toxic. Lol.
