Saw it in Imax lastnight (was supposed to be thursday night but storm changed my plans) and it was my first Imax viewing since Spiderman FFH and the first packed screening since Spiderman FFH, BW was nowhere as filled as this.

I will say this as a “representation” movie it utterly blows away BP absolutely destroys it way better with everything. Seriously BP is trash next to this.

BW is also garbage compared to this movie then again so is TSS.

It’s true some of the best “fantasy” martial arts choreography put on film super dynamic and thrilling to watch especially with the rings which were well utilized.

Ok with that now out of the way Marvel phase 4 is in absolute shambles they are just throwing everything cosmic at the wall to see what sticks.

They don’t even know which multiverse creating device/plot they want to go with they are jumping from Wanda to Loki to DS to Kang to Spiderman to Ten Rings it is a convoluted mess.

The humor was also super cringing ughhh.

Initially I wasn’t buying into the Mandarin plot it just wasn’t working for me I was calling BS on all of if his existence and motivations but I ultimately just accepted that he was

When Priest wrote Black Panther, and he had him essentially beat Tony, it was done in an intelligent manner that made sense and paid respect to both characters, without PIS or OOC writing needed. The problem is that the people calling the shots are a mix of Kennedys (who self-inserts as every brunette white woman in SW, and that's why seemingly only brunette white women exist in that universe) and Hudlins, not Priests. People can hate McFarlane, but he created and published an OC and didn't just create a self-insert, like Bendis does with all of his totally-not-his-adopted-kids OCs or Hudlin and whatever else.

It's just the way things are. It's all talk and all they want is a bigger marketshare. Coca-Cola used to make literal Nazi glass bottles, and now they have gendergluid interracial lesbian couples in their ads. It's all about the money. The twitter morons are literally a bunch of sheltered American kids who think they're changing the world.

I get the argument of representation. A reason why I like Doom is because he's an Eastern Euro (and it's also why I dislike the forced gyppo aspect) and I used to feel more attached to Tony over Batman because I thought he was Italian. So a character like Val-Zod I don't mind. Or Blade, or Spawn, or even Blue Marvel, much of a self-insert as he is. But when you make Asgard or Olympus look like modern L.A., when you go out of your way to antagonise the devoted audience, then the fans will be dissapointed. The reason why Lila Rhodes was well enough received and Ree-Ree was hated by the fanbase, was because of the execution. Make new characters, give them some connection, but don't have them be smug, obnoxious ***** who upstage the old guard. I never liked any "kewl" teen characters, even as a kid. I never liked it when one character beat up another character from another book because the writer hated them. It all felt petty and childish.

Storm got retconned into being his first love based on a small story by Priest and literally because they wanted a Black Power Couple and Storm was high profile. Stark actually returns in a non-canon story set in the future where the world is so jealous of Wakanda that they attack, but Wakanda conquers it and rules it fairly, but firmly. That's a good ending by the way. Hudlin actually followed it up in some annual or whatever in a story called, I kid you not, "BLACK TO THE FUTURE". The Doom thing is part of a story where they visit some Marvel Kings after the marriage. The Luke/Familia bit is part of a story where they, Falcon and Blade team up. I don't remember the story itself, but a couch gets wrecked in Luke's apartment and he goes "awwww **** man, I had the Black Cat on that couch".

Hudlin's neither a good writer, nor a well man. But hey, that's the version Marvel and we are where we are.

That's some hack writing IMO. Well, Shang-chi is "seemingly" doing well at the box office. Happy for those who I'm sure worked hard on the project, hopefully it does well overall. My son mentioned he wanted to see it and I floated the possibility of going to the theater, but he didn't want to bother, knowing he can stream from the couch next month. I, for one, tested positive for Covid week before last (even with the vaccine) so I'm not going out there. Interesting that the numbers may show a desire for movie theater experiences again.
