Wow, I didn't know that was from the comics. Still, after 3 Nolan era Batman films and MoS (especially MoS) never mentioning it , it seemed too convenient. I also thought it was unnecessary, because it wasn't as if Superman couldn't fly a few hundred miles in a matter of seconds to reach Gotham and have the same confrontation with Batman.

I'm sure Snyder had some deep meaning in mind, like the light and dark mirror images facing each other across the harbour!

Have they always been neighboring cities, or was that a retcon for a particular run of comics? I'm guessing the latter?

I'm sure it's only in certain comics. I haven't read that many comics overall, I just recall it from the late '80s.

It's not that it wasn't apparent what Snyder was going for, it's just that IMO it didn't come off as intended.

I do think it was lost on most people, especially casual viewers.

During the Day of the Dead scene in Mexico after Supes saved the girl from the burning building and all the people in the skull masks were trying to reach out and touch him, I once recall reading where this was being debated in a comments section somewhere, and some girl posited that what the imagery symbolized was Superman being weighed down by the guilt of all of those he couldn’t save in the Battle of Metropolis. Zack Snyder himself then commented and confirmed the girl’s theory on what it was meant to represent.

No need to apologize. Because no matter how much you dislike it, it wasn?t.

Nobody likes TLJ aside from a handful of people? That?s a contradictory statement. You said that nobody likes TLJ, then summarily acknowledged there?s somebody who does. :lol

You know what I mean and no matter how much you like it it wasn?t. Nothing justifies killing superman in his second movie. And development of the JL. If you honestly think the development of characters of aquaman and cyborg were fleshed out well in JL then I don?t know what to tell ya buddy.

That whole surveillance camera seen was easily one of the laziest way to introduce characters. Especially cyborg who?s origin was being recorded.

But hey you do you

Nah I don’t know what you mean, I’m not a clairvoyant.

Are we talking about BvS, or the DCEU in general? I thought we were talking about BvS. At least that’s what I was talking about. However, you’re at least right about JL being pretty lackluster, I’ll give you that.

And you don’t have to tell me anything. I’m not asking for your permission to like the film. You thinking it’s bad doesn’t affect my enjoyment of it. Not sure why you’re so adamant about convincing me it was bad. Me liking it seems to bother you more than you not liking it bothers me.

How about this: I’ll stick to liking stuff that’s good, you stick to liking whatever crap it is you like. You do you. Sound good?

Thanks for the intelligent, respectful discussion gents.
BvS is one of my favourite Superhero films, and it's nice to see people putting thought into it, instead of memes...

Yea cool that?s really cool. But I didn?t ask permission to like the film. You kept posting it wasn?t rushed and I said it was. It?s not being adamant at all it?s responding to your comments and of course I?m going to respond accordingly. If you keep responding to my comment on how JL was good writing then of course I?m going to challenge that response. Not trying to convince you of anything. Didn?t say ? o dude your taste suck?

So in the future if your going to debate on a topic then be prepared for opposing opinion.

Stop with all this it bothers me crap. It?s a discussion forum. I don?t have a beef with you I don?t care we are talking about the film and it?s writing

You don’t have to ask my permission. If you dislike it, then dislike it. You thought it was bad, that’s your opinion. Like I said, you thinking that won’t affect my liking of the film.

I kept posting how I thought the creation of the Justice League wasn’t rushed? No. I stated my opinion, someone asked why I felt that way, and I stated why. You then came in matter of factly stating that it sucked and there’s no way to justify that it doesn’t, as if people need to justify themselves to you why they liked it because you declare that it by default sucked.

So in the future, if you’re going to debate a topic, learn how to actually do it intelligently and present a cogent argument, as opposed to declaring something by default is good or something by default sucked simply because that’s what your opinion is. Then perhaps you’ll be taken more seriously. Perhaps refer to how I and TheBuffinator discussed it. If you want to think your opinion is fact, then I’ll do the exact same to you with mine and watch you get bothered by it.

Hopefully you take note of what the key word is there.

Lol when u originally posted you said nothing about it just being your opinion. Just said ? it wasn?t rushed?. Your in a forum. Many people have opinions on here. Don?t get in your feelings when someone challenges your opinion on a movie. Ain?t nobody trying to convince you that your wrong. It?s mainly bashing the movie. So in the future if someone says something opposite of what your OPINION is? Don?t cry about it and act like your being targeted. You said nothing about it being your opinion. You kept commenting on my post saying it wasn?t rushed so duh I?m going to respond.

Duhhhhhhh

Uh huh. Try not to be so bothered by being wrong.

I enjoyed BvS (particularly Ulitmate edition, but theater version is somewhat rewatchable still) and am gunna miss Ben as Batman. Sucks especially if Cavill really is considering staying in the Supes role.

This movie gave us one of the best damn Bats scenes we've had on film yet imo with that warehouse scene, one of the coolest batmobile, and imo the very best Batman costume. Here's hoping Patman comes out looking half as cool.

I think the way the scenes are strung together is better in the theatrical version. I really liked the segue from the cops discovering the branded guy in that house with all the girls locked up, straight to Bruce going down the bat cave elevator, with the Batman music continuing into that scene. In the Ultimate edition I think they cram the scene in Lois' apartment between the two, and the way it's broken up feels really disjointed.

The Ultimate Edition is better and tells a more "coherent" story (with nice added action scenes), but I think the theatrical cut is way more polished. Some of the music lingers into other scenes in the Ultimate edition because it was meant for the theatrical.

I like the UE much better. To me, that is BvS. The theatrical version to me now is unwatchable. However, the only thing I dislike about the UE is the duration of it.

I liked the theatrical version when I saw it in theaters, but the UE made me realize how much was indeed missing.

I like both versions. I'd like to see Snyders cut of justice league for sure. Just seeing superman without a cgi mouth would be a huge upgrade in itself. Not sure why so many are against it.

It's very, very minor things. For instance, the scene where Lois is abducted by the Russian before being helicoptered to Lex has an extended sequence in the UE where they carry her into a van, but they use the same music as the theatrical (which doesn't have her being carried to a van), so the music track bleeds longer into Lois' and Lex' conversation on the rooftop because it wasn't adjusted to fit the extended sequence.

Another example is the scene introducing Lex playing basketball, which didn't have any music in the theatrical, but because they swapped the scene in front of it for Clark watching something on TV (that had a dramatic music track playing during it), that track now bleeds into the basketball scene - and even goes over some of the dialogue - which unintentionally gives the scene a "dramatic" feel, even though they're just playing basketball and being chatty.

My final example is the extended desert shooting - The UE has an added scene showing the Russian and his men on motorcycles watching Superman fly through a missile. After seeing that happen, the Russian says "Move out!" and they ride off. Later in the movie, when they're loading the kryptonite onto the LexCorp truck (before Batman fires the tracking ammunition), the Russian tells his men to "Move out!" when the kryptonite is securely stowed. They reused the exact same audio clip of him saying "Move out!" for the UE's desert scene.

Ever since the UE released I've never gone back to the theatrical, but little things like that bother me more than they should. I feel so stupid bringing all this up. Please validate me, SilverStar. :lol

Not only that, also going back to Snyder's color palette and Junkie XL's score would lift the movie considerably...

While I wasn't a fan of Snyder's vision, in hindsight, consistency would have been better once the course was set. So I'd be curious to see what his cut would be like.

Well said. I know WB was hesitant to put another dark, brooding, serious movie out after people complained about the tone of MoS and BvS, but we all suffer when we have to see Bats crack jokes in broad daylight :gah:

The Theatrical cut out content that was absolutely pivotal to the plot. It?s beyond me how they let that version get released the way it did.

Even so, the UC still suffered from motivation issues and that horrid Lex.

I am mortified because this is the best superman and batman yet (imo) the best superhero movie visually incredible cast. Such a waste..
