Something was bothering me about Widow's face so I did a quick paint over with animation. Basically her eyes are too close together and the eye makeup is too heavy. Her lower lips should be a bit thicker and lips darker, the mouth should also be a little wider.

I could get the gif to embed properly so I'm posting a link to the image:

I'm totally not digging the rate hikes. 1st they had Nebula - $89.99, then Scarlet Witch $99.99 and now Black Widow - $119.99. That's a 25% price increase on the basic female statue in less than a year. I liked these because they were good quality and affordable. So glad that the Marvel that I cared about ended with Endgame.

The edit definitely looks better. I feel like this Widow looks different from the first one they showed off but I could be wrong.

Thanks. I agree, it does look changed since the first picts they showed…best I can tell is that this new one has heavier eye makeup, which might just be a natural variance between pieces, not sure.

Same goes for me my wallet will not be as stressed.

Whereas for me I don’t think I’ll stop watching their films.

But with my large scale statue collection at capacity, for the MCU I’ll probably only collect 1/10 scale pieces and Hot Toys going forward.

I will watch all DC and Marvel movies but phase 4 and onwards is mostly meh for me.

Honestly nothing has really changed for me with regards to the MCU films.

With Iron Man I’ve only really thought the first one was great, after which he excelled in the Avengers films.

Prior to Guardians coming out, I thought that could be a disaster; so I’m willing to give any unknowns the benefit of the doubt.

And I’m looking forward to films like Doctor Strange 2 and I’m sure another Spider-Man film will be announced eventually. As well as Black Panther 2, and yes even Captain Marvel 2.

But honestly I haven’t really liked a Thor film since the first. Ragnarok just wasn’t for me. Loved him in Infinity War, but I was let down by Endgame with regards to Thor for probably the same reasons I didn’t like Ragnorok.

It’s only really the loss of Cap that has changed any expectations I have. I’ve loved pretty much every film he was in, except for maybe AOU.

I would agree that the price hikes are not making me very happy. If they go too much further, I'll stop ordering I think.

Yep same here...after I’ve ordered the snapping Tony and the Black Order, I AM DONE! Coincidentally, that should be all the Endgame statues. :)

Seriously though, I’ve seen this price hike with Hot Toys Marvel pieces recently as well. There’s definitely a little MCU hype rate factor I think....

Loss of Cap and Iron Man is massive. It's like DC losing Superman and Batman. MCU will do well of course but for me i like the OG avengers. I have no interest in Captain marvel, BP is ok, Strange is ok, love Spidey and Guardians. Looking at the phase 4 and 5 slate there is a few movies i really want to see but its not like phase 1,2 and 3.

The problem I have is that they released Nebula and Ronin first for $89.99 and they had them sell out fast.

This makes collectors go into a frenzy and they start pre-ordering all of the statues because the first ones sold out so fast.

Then they throw in a little price hike to make some more money because they have tricked the collectors in to thinking the following statues would sell out as fast as Nebula and Ronin did but they didn't.

Then through social media they put up a statement telling collectors that they better pre-order soon because they will stop allowing pre-orders after 10 days. But those 10 days turned out to be 4-5 weeks.

Then once they got every one to order a bunch and knew that they would have to buy Black Widow so they raise the price a whopping $20.

I may be wrong with this theory but as someone pre-ordering all of their statues it comes across as shady move on their part.

Oh well it is what it is.

I hear ya. They are definitely trying to milk it. I think what annoys me a bit more is that they have opened up preorders for some IW pieces that sold out. That bugs me, I get that there isn't an ES but it just sucks to see those go down in value for those of us who bought them. Course, I also preordered antman and wasp once they reopened those orders. I just hope they don't keep doing this kind of thing to annoy their customer base. I, for one, love the stuff they are making but I also don't want to see them go the way Sideshow has with getting lazy and greedy.

It's kinda sad because I think their stuff is so good that it sells itself. No need for the lies, gimmicks and price gouging.

I'm starting to lose respect for the company itself.

Hopefully these look as good in hand as they do in the pictures.

I'm not down on IS. IMO so far re the quality - both the CW 1/4 and the IW 1/10s - IMO they are a positive bargain for the quality. Dunno re price increases but based on articles or comments the past year - there are less factories doing messy, smelly polystone work and prices for shipping etc. have gone up.

Am a heck of lot more irritated with HT, with the past year of uneven output from protos. I dunno why IS may have some price increases but so far don't think it's horrible for what you get. I mean, look at some of the ~$100 dollar smaller busts (awful) and $90 "vinyl models" that get put out, or the pricey Egg Attack stuff that is caricatures, really.

Ironically tho this Widow just isn't doing it for me, so hoping to put a period on the EG stuff and just start PAYING for it. Looking ahead to potential releases as well - maybe from the Disney + series. Also u never know when u might get a bargain, like when I picked up a Harley Quinn at BBTS for like 40% off or something.

The thing is most of their BDS pieces weren’t selling for $90 USD. A lot were already in the $100 price range, and has been prior to the release of the Endgame pieces.

Heck those plain based Arkham pieces are somewhere in the neighbourhood of $75 to $85.

The $90 was probably just business to get people into the line. There’s nothing unusual about that.

Just be greatful you’re not paying significantly higher, as from Popcultcha here in Australian these list for $200 to $380 AUD (Spidey/Outrider). Or rather about $140 to $266 USD. And if I were to import it directly it could cost me between 30 to 60% more!

I wish I could pay what those in the US are paying to get these in hand. But between ever increasing shipping, customs, and retailer overheads it does add up.

True. I just didn't like the way they went about it. It's all good in the end. I can't wait to get them.

Great points man. yea, they are still quite awesome and thus I keep buying:lol If the prices are somewhat in tact in the future, that will keep me going!

Wish all collectors could pay the retail e.g. SSC base price or I could get XM at base price - I know, shipping seems astronomical even within the 'States - 'coz now and then I pick up a WETA piece and they have gone up too $$$.

Someones always got to ***** and complain. Never satisfied, something is always wrong, blah, blah, blah, blah.....

Avengers: Endgame is genuinely loved by Marvel fans, but that doesn't mean the film isn't without its fair share of criticisms. One of the most common criticisms fans have of Endgame, is how the culminating chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Infinity Saga ultimately completes the story arc of Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow.

Well, those criticisms haven't stopped one toy company from leaning into Widows dark fate in Avengers: Endgame, to create a sculpted figurine that is definitely going to have a lot of Marvel movie fans saying "WTF?"

Natasha Romanoff made the ultimate sacrifice during Avengers: Endgame's "Time Heist" sequence in the second act. Widow took the fatal leap from the Stonekeeper's rock on Vormir, in order to "pay" for Hawkeye to obtain the Soul Stone. The writers and director of Avengers: Endgame have explained that Natasha's main reason for living had become protecting people and being a hero, and that the loss to Thanos in Avengers: Inifinity War, and five years of living after The Snap, had left Natasha with a hole inside that was threatening to swallow her up. To be able to sacrifice herself in order to help bring everyone back from The Snap was reportedly a greater good for Widow than life itself, but a lot of fans have trouble seeing it that way.

The main criticism of Widow's death is that she was constantly depicted as a female character used to boost her male counterparts in supporting roles, only to have to literally kill herself to keep accomplishing that same low-hanging function in the franchise. For that reason, it's kind of downright weird to design a statue commemorating that exact moment, when there are so many other iconic Black Widow moments gave to the MCU. Maybe its just evidence that, as some fans accuse, Endgame generally didn't give Widow much to do at all. I mean, if this is the most iconic visual moment her character had in the film, that's not really a great sign...
