Boy, the end of chapter 3, and now middle of chapter is pretty crazy.......! glad the slowness of the first couple chapters has really picked up, but by this point, most of the characters really end up meaning something!

Pretty great overall

Finally finished this the other day.

I'd been seeing memes about Micah for a while now, but at the time I only knew them in reference to busting him out of jail and him being a useless hanger-on ... but now I understand the context.

****in' bastard.

Yes thank you ! I stopped playing a couple months ago. Still have it and enjoy some of it so I will start again once I’m feeling it. But it drags horribly and I find it odd that didn’t bring down some of the critics scores a little bit. I mean most of the plotting is super choppy and weirdly paced. A lot of the systems are useless, but then again I never enjoyed gta too much. I was never the type to race to get home power up the ps4 and yaknow play poker or some gimmicky mini game like that. Give me red dead in the form of uncharted, a thrilling action adventure where I can actually remember the beginning of the plot by the time I get to the end.

Love GTA and the first Red Dead. But this is just a boring RS game.

I'm loving it. I started playing just before Christmas and then left it to play the Dreams Beta. I returned to RDR2 when it closed. I play a story mission once a week and just spend the rest of the time riding around and exploring. The attention to detail really is something else. I will probably still be playing it months from now.

I'll admit I found it boring and frustrating for the first 10-20 hours or so. Getting used to the game systems, much of it felt like filler, just throwing everything in there they possibly can. Eventually though the story pulls it all together and the last 5 or 6 hours of the game makes it worth it.

It's just hard for a game to be revolutionary in this day and age though, it seems like you can only make incremental improvements.

I will say some of the views in the game are pretty spectacular, I think once you're able to get up North, it gets pretty nice ... except for the damn Cougars ... swear to Jebus, they put those in just to frustrate you for not saving in the past 5 minutes.

To me, alongside Witcher 3 it is the best game of this console generation.

Sure it's not perfect and has its quirks, but I loved the months I spent playing it, and it was everything I wanted in a follow up to Red Dead Redemption.

Still, to each their own, as they say.

It's a game that's not for everyone I'll give them that, It's a very slow burn that relies on the players attention and time, some of the mechanics are clunky too and gunplay could be a bit better (unplayable without autoaim) but vasty superior to the gunplay in previous R* titles and of course the western genre ain't for everyone.

In regards to the story, it really comes down to the person playing, RDR is my favourite game ever so I knew where the basic storyline would go, I also have to say that it's a much more rewarding and fun expirience playing the second if you've played the first, but the main problem I see amongst people who don't like the game is that most of them missed the entire purpose of it, some found it too boring, some others didn't even pay enough attention to the story or the three major character arcs in the game, which is why I'm glad R* made pratically 2 different versions of Arthur depending on your honor, Low honor Arthur is just, well, not canon, and never will be, I saw someone who had such a vile Arthur on their playtrough that they cheered at the end of chapter 6.

The game, along with the first RDR are my top 1 anything ever, so I'm biased when I speak about it but I can understand why some wouldn't like it as much, no need to bash them for it.

Also, and this is more speaking about what I see on the internet and youtube and whatnot, people who don't like the game ask what's the purpose of the story, what are they suppose to achieve? Well, it's in the title...

I played the whole game without auto aim and I didn't have a problem. It is certainly the best rockstar have done so far with gunplay controls, which have always been a bit clunky in their games. Other than that, I pretty much agree with your other points. RDR2 is a game to get immersed in, if you are the type of gamer not interested in fully investing in that then you won't get the best out of it, just like with the previous RDR, or with games like Skyrim or Witcher 3 or whatever. Part of the joy of these games is being in that world, investigating it, travelling around and finding stuff. 'Living it' via your gaming character, so to speak. If you are more a set objective type gamer who just wants to get through things as quickly as possible and move on to the next game, then these are probably not the kinds of games for you. And that's fine, too. But me, I'm just glad they still makes games like these that I can get lost in, particularly in an age obsessed by multiplayer, loot boxes, and 10 hour quick fire campaigns.

Brilliant post Danger Man. I agree.

Be seeing you.

I smoked at this game right after release, couple months went by completed it. I'm still working on 100% . There's so much stuff to do in this game that I still haven't even touched but I'm getting there closer and closer to 100%. definitely I got my money's worth. I even got my wife to play this game with me and she's never been a gamer in her life. LMAO she likes to go pick flowers and herbs

The best part of this game (besides the western theme) is OPEN WORLD, which is why I enjoy it so much. You don't even have to play the game in story mode to enjoy it, you can just ride around, being good or bad causing all kinds of havoc.

Story mode just got a drastic graphical downgrade with the two latest patches, I booted the game and it looks awful, ambient occlusion is clearly missing and overall lighting and shadows are all over the place, on top of it all I'm having severe performance issues, fps dropping to the lowest they've been, npcs having spawning issues and motion blur makes the game look pixelated. I hope Rockstar gets on this fast because I'm not the only one who's unhappy with the latest patches.

Indeed. I don't know how many hours I spent just riding around, making my own fun. :rock

Eek, glad I've already hundred percented it, then.
